About Surplus Computers from the deals page - Took my money and still haven't shipped

I made a larger order from them Dec 3rd. They charged my CC Dec 5th. No shipping info yet :( - I have wrote to them and left voicemails repeatedly. With no replies. Eventually I got an email that they are busy over XMAS and will ship as soon as they can – no date. I made a large Xmas order from them and an REALLY worried that they will not ship in time

I've been a Surplus Computers customer for over 10 years and have never had any problems, so I don't think they are purposely trying to scam you.

However, I believe the credit cards have a policy that they cannot charge you until the item has shipped. If I were you, I'd call my credit card issuer and verify that information. If it's true, leave a voice mail for Surplus Computers stating they have charged your card in violation of their merchant account agreement. Tell them you would like a firm ship date by Friday or you will dispute the charge and cancel your order.

There is a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE difference between charging you and authorizing your CCard. They will most likely, and should, tie up funds on your credit card for the order. That is so you can't go out and buy something else and when they try to collect find that you are over your limit. This is standard practice, now if they are charging your CCard, i.e. you see it on your statement as an item than it's a problem as they can't legally do this until the goods have shipped.
