Bluetooth Headset & MP3s

Can a bluetooth headset be used to listen to MP3s on a laptop? I read somewhere that certain bluetooth versions can't. Any thoughts?

I have a Motorola HS810 (v1.1 - 10 meters) and it can't play music :( But it's just an earpiece. They make Bluetooth headphones that are made to listen to music.
