that sucks man. i know the application process is always depressing because you get dinged by some places you really wanted to go.

just hang in there.....something will come out if it.

i applied to 4 others. but the 3 ones I really want to get into are higher ranked than these two. so if I couldn't get into those two, I have little or no chance at the higher 3...

Is this for graduate school or just college? Did you think that you had a good chance of getting in or was it simply an issue of reaching too high. Either way, I'm sorry that you didnt get in. Hopefully the waitlist will come through for you or one of the other schools you applied to.

On a side note, I know of some individuals that only applied to schools that they were unqualified for and when they were rejected from all they were completely dejected. Didnt make sense to me since it seemed to be the obvious outcome, but I guess people convince themselves of the damndest things.

that may be true, but you have to remember that the admissions game ranges from somewhat to very random. particularly with MBA programs, where once you reach the general range of applicants they are looking for (as far as GPA and GMAT go), it is all about whether they think you will fit with their class or not.

on the other hand, if you feel like you were dinged/waitlisted by these two schools because your GMAT/GPA was too low, then that may mean it will be tough at the other 3 you're looking at.

all i know is that i got waitlisted (and eventually dinged) from some schools that were not nearly as good/selective as the schools i was accepted to. so like i said, just hang in there and see how it all shakes out.

well, wherever you wind up, you'll be fine. i've taken classes at 4 different udnergrad institutions, and honestly, teh quality of instruction was far higher at the lower-ranked schools.

I completely agree with wfl. Perhaps the higher-ranked schools get more research money, so their professors are off doing that instead of teaching. I transferred from a less prestigious school to UC Davis, and it was a big step down in terms of instructor-led education.
