stuff like this just blows me away. i mean, i KINDA get it... i start all my auctions at $1, just becuase it encourages more bidders, and someone who bids once, is winning for awhile, and then gets outbid, is likely to bid again even if they originally didn;t want to pay that much... it's just a matter of getting emotionally attached and thinking "you are NOT going to take this from me, dammit!"
but really... i just... yeah. how many things have to be wrong with yo damn noggin for you to do something like this? and this is not an isolated incident! remember the $255 someone spent on a $250 walmart gc not too long ago?
i'm thinkin i need to start listing huge-denomination gc's to see what happens...

The only thing that I can think of is that they stole a paypal account, and want to spend the money untraceably.

i can't believe it's up to $495, with 14 hours still to go.
i mean, it's one thing when something like that goes for $10 or $15 more than face. stupid, yes. understandable? yes, that too. people to get caught up in these things.
but once you are putting in bids worth 20% MORE than face, you just have to ask the "wtf are you thinking?" question.

at this point, it must be the seller bidding up the dumbest... person... on earth.

I just checked the buyers feedback, he has ONLY purchased online coupons... It HAS to be a stolen Paypal account!

Ummmm...read Agent Plissken's post. He's buying it with someone else's money. So he gets a $400 GC for nothing, no matter how much he bids for it.

that being the case, it makes sense. but eventually it is going to catch up with the crook.

Absolutely... Stolen CC or PP account. Attempt to launder money. All the seller needs to do now is wait for the chargeback.

Is it possible the seller is the bidder, just using a different account?
It's possible that the seller is A bidder, for purposes of bidding the item up and then purposely not winning the auction...
