this drive OEM is Liteon SOHW-832S. imho, stay away from lite-on dvd burner.
it will burn you a bunch of coaster and u will end up wasting more $ than what u have bargained for.

i won't even take a free lite-on dvdr drive even if it's free before or after rebate.
OK, i'll take em if they pay me :D

I just called 1-800 staples sucks phone line.

I said that price was $38 and so they checked the Mira Mesa (San Diego) stores price and found it to be $89. She would not price match online price to this so if your store shows it to be $38 - get it dude. This is a YMMV deal.

On the other hand, I've had a LiteOn DVD-R for about a year now and it's been nothing but great, burning anything I throw at it, DVD, SVCD, CD-R, etc with no problems at all.

You obviously have no idea what your talking about. Get a clue before you bash a superior product.

Children... please!

clux Could you please let me know which model number you have had bad luck with (if you recall)? I have had good luck with Lite-On in the past and am curious which model you had bad luck with so I can compare that with the ones I have used.

MASTERPL Don't be so defensive. clux obviously got burnt (no pun intended) in the past, can you blam him for warning people?

The Writer is ringing up 89.99 at my local staples. That kills the great deal on it. Are you sure that's the correct SKU because the guy there said there had been a similar one where the deal made the thing nearly free.
