Does anyone here know the typical life expectancy of a laser printer, like HP?
I tried google and all i get is consumable life expectancy.
thanks,

Depends on brand & usage. HP is probably the longest - I have seen HP printers in use for 10+ years.
However, if you're printing 10,000 pages per month, life expectancy will be much shorter than if you're printing 500.
I had a cheap Epson laser that I used for 8 years before I sold it. It's still working fine as far as I know. However, if that thing were in an office, it probably wouldn't have lasted a year.

thanks jeffbx,
I guess 4 to 5 years for a HP printer with barely any maintenance is about right?

i've had an HP lasrer jet 4L for at least 10 years. maybe closer to 15 years. i don't print a ton on it, but for many years it was doing 500 pages per week. it still runs like a champ. I've never had a single problem with it and it runs as good as day one.
if i were buying a new laser printer, i would buy another HP without question.

I have the same printer. It rocks!
HP Laserjet's last forever, simply put. I have had numerous friend buy the 4 series on eBay (10 year old) and have gotten a few more years of it and counting.

my old roommate had a business-class lHP aserjet that was more heavy than my 15" CRT. that sucker was good for 10 years minimum. it required one servicing (which was rather expensve), but he saw it as an investment.
