Never again will you have to buy a seperate car power plug for your gadgets.
Keep it in the car and always have an AC outlet available to you.
Mine is a bit more compact, and you can get higher wattage versions...but you get the idea.

yeah, and those things can be used on American Airlines to power your laptop. they have "cigarette lighter" type plugs under the seats. You need a higher power one for most laptops though.

The last minute gift for myself would be the 42" plasma I have been longed after. :D

Not all seats, though, as I found out last summer. :disa: You gotta make sure you're either in First/Business or in a Coach seat with a power outlet.
Do these adapter thingies really work well? I remember stories from a few years ago that said you shouldn't use them 'cause they'd overheat and explode or something. Maybe they improved the technology.

ahhh, i love those... i have one with two plugs. now we can play N64 and dreamcast in the van on long trips...
sucks for the babies, tho, since their carseats ahve to face the back til they weight 30 lbs... and they're so small they may not hit that until the age of three :heh:

hmm i need to get something similar to this for my plane rides with my laptop. I almost always fly AA and some of the times they have outlets.
Though my pentium M really conserves juice pretty well, and i usually just rip a dvd or two to the hard drive so that its not eating up juice reading the DVD.

true, not all seats. that's why when I select my seat I look at the cabin layout of the plane (https://www.aa.com/content/aboutUs/ourPlanes/ourPlanes.jhtml) I am scheduled on so that I know where the outlets are located. if all of the seats with power outlets are taken, I've found that people in front ot behind you never mind plugging in for you or switching seats.

Pretty much sums up my laptop now as well. I have a spare battery, which means I can compute for about 8-9 hours (7 if I'm watching a DVD).
Still is a useful item to have (maybe to charge up an iPod or cell phone.) I used a big power inverter to keep my iRiver discman charged last year when I travelled from Calgary Alberta to Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.

These things put out a lot of noise on the power line though. I plugged in my laptop and the amt of static coming out of the speakers was quite noticeable.

Interesting I had no issues with mine. But I only used it once with my laptop (while it was on) Mostly I use it for recharging items cell phone, digital camera, laptop. The Power inverter paid for itself just saving me the money on my 2nd cellphone by not having to purchase a car power adapter.

yeah, I had no issues with mine. i was using small headphones though, not real speakers.
a nice thing is that my Toyota Matrix has a regular power outlet on the dash (but no 3rd hole for the ground) so I don't need a car charger of any kind anymore.
