I bought my friend a limited edition Battletech: Master Rules book on ebay, after he got me one at a book store. Already worth 3x as much as we paid.

I also bought a bunch of Fireballs today, I love those things.

We laughed. Then I finally apologized. I didn't turn away or anything, but I apologized. ;)

Too many things to mention. When I'm not in total parental mode, my kids think I'm a "way fun dad," so I must be doing something at their level.

*gasp* YOU TOO LOVE KINDER EGGS?!?!?!??!?!?! omg omg omg... I LOVE THEM!!!!

the coolest ones ever, from a couple years ago, were the little village, wher eyou actually used the cases as part of the structure... itty bitty little snap-together floor base, with tables and chairs and stairs, then a clear cylindrical wall(s) and roof... ooooh, they're so cool!

i buy the eggs whenever i'm in europe or canada, and once a year or so i buy a lot of 200 of jsut the toys on ebay... it's great, because somebody's picked through them and taken out the collectible ones - smurfs, star wars, lord of the rings, etc - and what's left are the really cool ones, the cars, etc... so it winds up costing about 25 cents per capsule, and i can hand them out to eg's class for birthdays, christmas, etc... all year long!

i can't resist sliding down a railing. it doesn't matter where I am. if I am coming down stairs and the railing appears right for sliding (ie, right angle, no large knob at the end) then I got for it. This includes last years SAE-CE Meeting in Fort Worth, a polymer plant in Michigan, and many many castles in Europe.

My fiance made sure that neither the church nor the reception site for our wedding had any stairs so that I would not slide down the rail leaving her behind.

OHHHHhhhh... Don"t get me started! IMHO, THE most talentd Comedy Troupe EVER! Those guys demonstated the HIGHEST level of immaturity. Must have seen Holy Grail 25 times that summer!

Black Knight's reply to having his arm just severed: "'Tis only a flesh wound."

Q. "WHAT... is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?"
A. "African or European?"

Ha, even the Brits admit to their true immature nature:

Monty Python and Holy Grail Voted Favourite British Film

By Anita Singh, Showbusiness Correspondent, PA News

Monty Python And The Holy Grail has been voted the nation’s favourite British film of all time.

The comedy classic came way ahead of box office smashes Four Weddings And A Funeral, Trainspotting and Love Actually.

And it beat Oscar winners Chariots Of Fire, Shakespeare In Love and Gandhi.

The 1975 film took a quarter of the votes in a joint poll by online retailer Amazon and the Internet Movie Database.

The Monty Python team – John Cleese, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Jones, Graham Chapman and Terry Gilliam – also had another top 10 entry with Life Of Brian, which came seventh in the survey.

Second was Stanley Kubrick’s notorious A Clockwork Orange, withdrawn from cinemas in 1973 at the director’s request after claims its violent scenes were inspiring copycat attacks.

It became a cult classic and was re-released in 2000 after Kubrick’s death.

Trainspotting was third, followed by multi-Oscar winning epic Lawrence of Arabia.

The oldest film in the poll was 1949 thriller The Third Man, which came fifth.

Other entries in the top 20 range from old classics, such as The Bridge On The River Kwai and Doctor Zhivago, to more recent films like The Full Monty and The English Patient.

More than 7,000 people were questioned for the survey, released to coincide with this Sunday’s Baftas.

Top 20:

1 Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)

2 A Clockwork Orange (1971)

3 Trainspotting (1996)

4 Lawrence of Arabia (1962)

5 The Third Man (1949)

6 Shakespeare In Love (1998)

7 Monty Python’s Life Of Brian (1979)

8 The Bridge On The River Kwai (1957)

9 Sense and Sensibility (1995)

10 Love Actually (2003)

11 Goldfinger (1964)

12 Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994)

13 The Full Monty (1997)

14 Elizabeth (1998)

15 The Italian Job (1969)

16 The English Patient (1996)

17 Doctor Zhivago (1965)

18 Gandhi (1982)

19 Chariots of Fire (1981)

20 Withnail And I (1987)

It's very cool living in an area with a large European ethnic population (many Polish and German folks near me). There are grocery stores within lederhosen-walking distance (whatever that means :) ) from me that sell these things year-round.

The kids are getting a few of them in their stocking this year.

There's a series out now of Polar Express toys. The little engine from the movie is scooting across my desk as I write this, thanks to my 9-year-old who came to work with me today.

These little things rock. Here's (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2002/06/24/financial0958EDT0035.DTL) a great article about them and why they aren't "legally" sold here in the USA.

wow. i had no idea these things were so popular and controversial in the US. My grandmother used to own a candy store in Belgium and we used to love these eggs when we were little. We thought they were only available in Europe like so many other candies that are not imported here. But it looks like these eggs have more of a story to them. Thanks for the reminder of my childhood.

good lord. yes, they're a choking hazard. everyone's house is full of choking hazards. my genius kids even figured out that pacifiers, when folded in half and rammed into one's throat with maximum effort, are choking hazards

you don't give choking hazards to kids under three. i have two under3, one over3. the 5 year old does not have to play with big soft baby toys. he just has to keep his 3-and-up toys out of the living room.

how hard is it to put a big damned warning label on the outside of the box that says THERE IS A TOY IN HERE, SO BE CAREFUL WHEN BITING, AND WHEN THE CHOCOLATE'S GONE, DON'T GIVE THE TOY TO YOUR TODDLER, STUPID. AND WHILE YOU'RE AT IT, DON'T USE YOUR BARE TODDLER TO STOP THE CHAINSAW BLADE.

love kinder eggs :) I have a friend who sends them to my son -- the one thing he asks for on his birthday -- by the box full. He savors them. Opening only a couple at a time, which is rather good for a 7 year old!

As for my level of immaturity, I like most of the stuff posted already, but I hardly have time to enjoy the pleasures... just don't ask my mom if I am mature, she will give a thousand of reasons why I am immature because my house is dusty...

and for all of you that answered "spongebob" ... omg you have got to go see the movie. the first hour was wierd and funny, the last half-hour was just painfully wierd... and it was nuts, man. the whole experience. weekday matinee full of kids... all busting up. and plenty of bored parents laughed quite a bit too. my kid managed to start a sing-along on the way out of the theater in which he and 15 other tone-deaf shorties recreated the rock opera finale... oh, man, was he wound up after that :heh:

Note to all: riding grocery carts, along with the habit of sticking your finger inside your cheek to pop it, are the first things to go when you are stricken with "maturity," a tragic condition which removes, among other things, the sense of humor and the joy of life from millions and millions of American adults.

If you've lost the desire/ability to do these things, don't worry: all is not lost.

Go immediately to the grocery store and buy a box of Lucky Charms (or Fruity Pebbles, Count Chocula, or Cap'n Crunch-- really, any sugary cereal will do) and a half-gallon of whole milk (no skim). Go home, sit in front of your TV, and watch cartoons for at least three hours while consuming the cereal and milk. Avoid your Quicken program, the statements from your stockbroker, your boss' voice mail, and the internet entirely (unless you're going to homestarrunner.com or a similar site) and allow your brain to just.... relax.

You'll be back to skitching on shopping carts in no time.

:)
