I have a Canon Powershot S45 that needs to be repaired without costing me an arm and a leg. I think it is the shutter. If you need specifics, let me know.

TIA

Perhaps too obvious, but is it still under warranty? You might look here for some information: http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=SupportDetailAct&fcategoryid=223&modelid=8507

No warranty - I bought it used. Canon stated it would be $150-$300 depending on the extent of the repair.

Other sites have quoted $60 to $350.

Thanks
Keep the ideas coming.

You can get a new Canon 4MP 3X optical for possibly the same as the repair price... but I hope you can fix it for cheaper, $60 would be worthwhile.

Canon Professional Service has on their website $90 w/6mo warranty.
I have debated selling this and buying something else but I am hoping to find something cheaper.

If you are thinking about a new one, keep an eye on the Dell deals. RIght now they are 15% off though the holidays plus you may be able to use a coupon too depending on the price. That is where I have gotten mine. Or ZipZoomFly or Newegg.

I have looked at the S410 for $269+etc is what I have shopped but I don't like the idea of a brick in my desk drawer.

not to be a thread jacker, but I also have a similar dillemma.

my dad's canon S330 just apperently bit the dust. what happened (according to my dad) is that one day he turned it on, it powered up as normal, but then just spontaneously turned off, with the lens open and extended. after that, it refused to turn on again, even with different fully charged battery packs. i bought it back in august 2002. anyone have any ideas/suggestions on how to get it repaired or what can be done?

thanks!

Well I would sell it on ebay as a parts only camera then buy yourself a new one. I had an Olympus 300 Stylus that cost $200 new and I sold it for $80 as parts on ebay when It ended up falling in the pool. I would go that route and buy a new one with a warrenty.

i am looking for the front faceplate for an oly c-50. I want to stay with this camera for some time, so i would rather fix it then upgrade. I have invested too much in underwater gear for this model to just ditch it.

I have found one place that has the part for $50. anyone else know where I can get parts for cheap?
