So here I am. 1:42am. Tonight I will finally sleep in MY bed since monday. Slept at work yesterday (6:30am to 10:30am), woke up, worked some more. Got home at 9pm.

Life sucks a really hard one.

been pushing 80hr workweeks for the past three weeks. I've lost 10lbs of weight, eat once every three or so days (surviving on diet coke and a crapload of smoothies). Hell knows how my bills are getting paid.

And why?

To (hopefully) please hundreds and thousands of baseball fans with a cool game next year.

*cries*

Wish me luck, just gotta push through for a couple more months and pray that I'll live to see my birthday.

/stumbles off to bed

Sounds tough man. But you sorta lost me with the statment about baseball fans. Are involved with a team or something? Management? A prospect? An agent?

Sounds like you work for Electronic Arts...

You have my sympathy... :disa:

There's no sense in working ANYBODY 80 hour weeks for 3 months at a time. It's criminal of your employer to do that, regardless of how your job is classified.

...and I thought I had it rough pushing one 90 hr week out of every 4. My sympathies dude...I hope it's paying well.

Are you at liberty to say what baseball game you're working on? Please don't let it be an EA game... their whole NFL monopoly in the face of competition gets a big thumbdown from me. :thumbdown

that's really cruel that you have to work so hard that you don't have time to eat, sleep, or even sh*t by the way it sounds. :gle:

I don't work for EA nor am I working on MVP2005 :)

I have to come to my company's defense though - I have never received any email or mandate or anything saying "You HAVE to work yourself to death or else.. HAHAA". It's pretty much that we programmers are complete and utter nuts willing to do just about anything to make the game cool, squeezing as many features in that we can and pretty much trying to get done.. to the detriment of our own health I guess :(

If I was smarter about it, I would leave every day after 8hrs .. but there's so much to do, and the other programmers are there burning midnight oil .. so you start going into the "team effort" mode.. :-/

Wait, is MVP2005 using the baseball mogul engine for the "Franchise" mode???? I know one of the baseball games are doing it and I thought it was MVP. Oh man if that is true keep up the work cause you guys will make a killer game.

I don't know what MVP2005 is doing or how they do their franchise mode :P

All I know is we hope to do a better job :D

yeah, I know, it's stupid :( But it's weird, I read these sites where they're talking about the game and getting all excited about it, and it's just that .. well .. excitement that makes you want to push through the extra hour, slip in that one extra cool feature not because you want to impress your boss but cuz you know people who play the game will enjoy it or get a kick out of it. It's kinda like running a marathon .. you hate yourself for it all the way through and you can't figure out why the hell you subject yourself to such torture .. until you reach the end and the reward is so great that all you can think of is how proud you are of what you've done.

*sighs* - oh well, at least I got three days off :) Back to the grind on Monday :)
