whoa... i'd scream about that top santa too... he looks hung over :P actually, he looks like he's in heroin withdrawal. actually, that's probably the result of being around screaming kids for the last 6 hours :gle:
yeah, i'll never understand why parents do that. i was letting my kids wander around the mall, and we watched em queue up for santa... and watched em fall, one by one. parents lined em up, santa knocked em down :heh:
i think some parents have a perverse desire to make their kids cry so they can rescue them

We didn't take Gabby to see Santa this year. She's to young to even understand...the lines are too long...and it's just a waste of time in my opinion. You just end up with your kids asking "If that's the real Santa, why did I see him at the other mall just a minute ago?" I figure that I will just take the stance that Santa at the mall is a "helper" and the real Santa works behind the scenes and delivers your presents.

jeebus - where do they dig up these santas..........our mall santa is a little more "real" - he actually changed his legal name to santa claus. real beard and a nice disposition.....
my lil one is almost 2 and that means no santa this year..... we tried once she freaked out.....so.........we'l try again next year......
Brayden is 5, and this year is the first he would even talk to Santa. He used to freak if we even asked him if he wanted to see Santa.

It's amazing how many cheesy Santa's there are out there. Here in NJ they look the part (real beards, great suits, etc.) and our girls are at the point (older and younger) that no one is afraid of the big man. We'll see how Elise is next year in FL. Hopefully we can find a good Santa in the Tampa area.

It's a little hot down there in Tampa for Santa to visit? ;)
I would cry too if I see Santas like those.

The Beach Boys
I wanna meet Santa Claus, the real real Santa
I wanna meet Santa Claus, the real real Santa
I wanna see Santa Claus, the real real Santa
He wants to meet ol' Santa Claus
I took my brother to the department store
He wanted to show Santa his Christmas list
He stood in line and he shook like a leaf
He's only five and a half goin' on six
He said, "Is that (that Santa) really Santa Claus,
really really (the real Santa) Santa Claus?
Is that (that Santa) really Santa Claus, really really Santa?
(I hope he doesn't pull Santa's beard)
Is that (that Santa) really Santa Claus,
really really (the real Santa) Santa?"
Hope he thinks that's Santa Claus
I picked him up and put him on Santa's lap
And then he pulled the pillow out of his shirt
He yanked the beard right on off of his chin
And in his eyes I could see he was hurt
He said, "You're not (not Santa) really Santa Claus,
you're really not (the real Santa) Santa Claus
You're not (not Santa) really Santa Claus,
you're really not Santa (he shouldn'ta pulled Santa's beard)
You're not (not Santa) Santa Claus,
you're really not (the real Santa) Santa"
He's just helpin' Santa Claus
He's just helpin' (helpin' Santa) Santa Claus,
the real (the real Santa) real Santa
He's helpin' (helpin' Santa) Santa Claus,
the real (the real Santa) real Santa
He's just helpin' (helpin' Santa) Santa Claus,
the real (the real Santa) real Santa
He's just helpin' Santa Claus

the terror competes with the anger!
i had almost forgotten, i have a pic of eg on santa's lap.... sorta. santa came to his playgroup at the park district gym, and he wanted to go do it... calmly waited in line, calmly climbed up into his lap... and about two seconds later, calmly pulled some houdini/ninja moves at the speed of light and was nothing more than a blur on the photo as he ejected himself from santa's lap.
and then he wouldn't admit he was scared :P

at our work xmas party they brought in Santa for the kids. Santa was the father of one of our employees and he is a professional Santa. Real beard and all. Amazingly none of the kids cried. What was awesome is that Santa's own granddaughter did not realize it was her grandpa in the outfit.
Kids are afraid of Santa, yet they still want him to give them fun things. Where's the logic?!?

I've played Santa in my company's Children's Christmas Party for the past five years. Still in my 30's, with some girth but without the real beard and all, I'm not the most convincing Santa -- but I really get into my role. It's amazing to watch the reactions of the kids. Each year we have about 600 kids and only a handful are criers (they must come from bad homes :P ). Many of the rest have an amazing sense of wonderment, year after year. They love to climb onto Santa's lap, hear the ho-ho-ho and tell you what they want. I even get "Letters to Santa" on occasion.
Most touching was a couple of years ago when I asked a young girl or 8 or 9 what she wanted for Christmas, and her response in a very hushed and hopeful tone was, "All I want is for Christmas is for mommy to be happy." I think you could actually hear my heart break.
