mmm I love mead! ..a friend of mine sends me a giant bottle that he has brewed every year for Christmas. It's not like the watered down stuff you get at the Renfest-it's thick, strong and will flatten you on your keister after 3 glasses of it...good stuff good stuff...

there are 4 styles of meads:
Braggot
Fruit Melomel
Metheglin
Traditional Mead
they are brewed very similarly to beer. in my experience they are insanely sweet and not to my liking. i know several people who make them much to the enjoyment of others though.
if you google it, there are lots of mead recipes out there. be prepared to wait for it to ferment (obviously). if you brew beer, you can brew a mead quite easily. often times people will add fruit to the recipe along with the honey.
Redstone Meadery (https://www.redstonemeadery.com/) is a brewer of meads that is getting popular. They get decent reviews from people who like meads. For folks who don't want to invest the time and money to brew, just a buy a bottle and enjoy.

Yup, I made a batch of melomel flavored with strawberries. Not too bad but the berries did make it a little skunky.
Brew is right in that it does take time. This batch has been ageing for about a year and a half. And that really is the minimum.
Good drink. Very smooth. Different from what you get everyday.Next time I'm going to try and make it with some spices. But for now I have 5 gallon of this stuff to "process" :lick:

Thanks for the information. Although, your title is a bit misleading. Shouldn't you also be the "Viceroy of Mead" or something?
