Whatever you do, there's one at Costco, it's white with a glass lid: DO NOT BUY IT! Just moved into an apartment and someone bought it for me. It's great...if you enjoy having a burnt skin of rice on the bottom of the cooker. *ugh*

Not sure how good price/quality wise the ones at www.cyberrebate.com (http://www.cyberrebate.com) are but they have some large rebates on them. Just type in "rice" in the product search engine and it should come up with about 5 different ones.

Hey now! Coervette rocks head-and shoulders above all sports cars(plus with a $15 trip to Lingenfeltter, it's a 450 HP monster).

Ha, yep, the best Canadian sports car made is the bloody Camaro http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/frown.gif
However, last I checked, wishes do not have borders. A Corvette pales in comparison to a true sports car, a 911 turbo. Even if the new one is kind of butt, it'll still smoke a Corvette around most tracks...given equal drivers, bien sur. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

just use a pot dammit!! i dont even know what a rice cooker is! all you have to do is get a pot with a lid, boil some water, put rice in it, and cook it for like 25 min. a rice cooker is unnecessary!!! so lets just put an end to this foolishness.

Tuvi...I disagree, a rice cooker cooks in a much shorter amount of time, provides fluffier rice b/c it steams it, and it it gives you the exact ratio of water to rice. Of course if you are one of the great master chefs of the world, you might scoff at this but for novice rice preparers like myself and fordpower, it is an extremely useful as well as reliable kitchen appliance that comes in handy more than you would think. In fact...I have an idea thats just crazy enough to work, let's start a rice cookers club of AMerica (RCCA), we could hold competitions, we could organize a universal rating system of different rice cookers, and we could even find uses for the rice "hash browns" on the bottom of the cooker, which is obviously the result of a mediocre cooker and would rate low on our universal system

don't go for a Rice Cooker. I would rather buy an American made car. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

That one at cyberrebate.com is made by Zojirushi. They have 3 different kinds there. I don't know about how much of a deal they are there but I'd really recommend that brand.

Just as a sidenote, I just saw the new Sebrings on TV, and I'd agree with Ben, those are some nice looking cars, especially the convertible and the coupe. Probably not especially good performance-wise, but they look good.

If it isn't burn't, but just toasted on, you can spread butter on it and let it sit just a while. Then, you can scrape it out carefully on one edge. The toasted rice will come out in several largish pieces (if it isn't really burn't on). Crispy.

Man that stuff on the bottom is what I live for. That's the best part of the rice. MMM crunchy, but sometimes the stuff can get hard :smash:.

And I thought *I* Was bored at work, sheeez! =)

Whaddya say we all just pick a day and make as much rice as we can and see if we can line them all up one by one and cross the country?

Sounds dumb, but, NOT AS DUMB AS FIGHTING OVER RICE COOKERS AND RICE ROCKETS AND STUFF AND STUFF! =)

That doesn't even classify as 2c, does it? probably a peso and a half or something.

AND I DONT WANNA HEAR ANYONE *BLEEP*ING ABOUT ME USING A REFERENCE TO PESOS!

I'm amazed at how many people used HTML in their posts, and now that Got|Apex turned off HTML, the naked formatting code is exposed.

Back on topic, are there any more "good" current-model (ie, still purchaseable at Costco/Sams/etc) rice cookers out there that people are using and would recommend?

 I haven't had any coming out posts. ;p I've always been out. And I like the Sebrings, dammit! :) They may not be the best performers but I love how they look. The factory stereo on the limited edition is awesome too.

On topic: Did anyone have success with the "Aroma: Rice Cooker and Food Steamer" sold at Sam's Club? It looks like a multipurpose style design. I'd like comments before plunking money down on a rice cooker.

well since all there were no "hot deals" for a rice cooker available on this thread, i just went out and found one myself... i grabbed a nice non-crappy cooker(one of those classy ones with just one chamber, no glass lid, etc)at walmart for superdupercheap, although for the life of me i cannot remember the price... anyhow, check it out if u want one...

Yeah, I think that's the name of that piece of crap I got. Don't bother, it's the worst. You end up throwing half the rice away because it's been fused into a strange plastic-y skin of burnt rice juice. Really bad product.
