Seriously tho what kind of games do you like? Here is some I can think of off the top of my head: Fable, Burnout 3, ESPN NFL2K5...

The newer Clancy games are all good (particularly the cooperative mode). Phosphorus grenades + heat vision + the screams of the victims... hilarity ensues.

yeah, halo2 will hold you over for a while.

but i also liked ghost recon, medal of honor.

i've heard good things about time-splitter, chronicles of riddick, and red-dead revolver.

halo 2 is probably the worst game if you want to play a FPS because it is all run around and shoot. i like it, but its not exactly a FPS. counter strike, rs3, rs3:black arrow, splinter cell games, sport games (dont go EA, because their games expire/year). i wouldnt recommend espn nfl 2k5 (i own it, no madden) because their game will expire when new madden comes out due to their new exclusive deal with the nfl that allows EA exclusive rights to players, teams, and stadiums.

It's first-person... it's a shooter... that makes it a first-person shooter. What do you do in a FPS? Run around and shoot. Hm. As for Counter-Strike as one of the best Xbox games? That's the old CS, so you can just get it for your computer, or better yet get HL2 and CSS.

Ninja Gaiden is sweet but really hard. If you like a challenge, go with this one. It's like the old ones. Those were hard as hell too. Took me years to master them.

If you're hardcore and old-school :wavey: pick up Metal Slug 3 on the cheap or wait for 4&5 to be released. Beautiful arcade-ported side-scrolling two-dimensional two-player shoot-em-up goodness. "Rocket Lowncher!"

If you're looking for a two-dimensional fighting game, I think Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO is the best the system has to offer. Obviously best enjoyed with a human opponent... but if you have Live you can play against online foes. Pretty much old-school Street Fighter and King of the Fighters, but hey it was popular way back when for a reason.

If you enjoy unrealistic sports games and/or creating players/teams, pick up NFL Street 2 or wait for the upcoming NBA Street 3. Honestly the only EA games I enjoy.

Rainbow Six 3 and Black Arrow are great. I've put more online hours into those then all other xbox games combined.

minority vote... for a simple, cheesy, super-cheap, easy, fun game... outlaw volleyball. half-naked chicks in goofy skimpy costumes with jiggly t&a and a goofy announcer... i got it for $5 at eb games. actually, $4.60, since you get 10% off.

speaking of which, DEFINITELY get teh ebgames member card... no fees, 10% off, plus a ton of other assorted discounts. over xmas, i got sw battlefronts, outlaw volleyball, and a racing game for $50 total.

so, KOTOR II ... prm played KOTOR 1 all the way through on pc, and really liked it; we're hesitant to pick up II unless it's really different. is it? good/bad? anyone care to give their 2 cents? one of the biggest disappointments of the 1st one was that you couldn't REALLY choose to be evil... you could, but it was limited and restricted; the penalties were so heavy that there was no point. did they fix that in #2?

oh,a nd other games i like... i'm not too impressed with grand theft auto 3... i LOVE munch's oddysee so far ... the storyline is interesting and teh stuff you have to do to succeed is EXTREMELY creative. i want to check out others in the oddworld series... was nto at all impressed with fable, and i generally love role-playing games... i bought goblin commander, and haven't managed to really get into it; it looked cool, but the gameplay drags, at least initially... sw battlefronts rocks (the caveat being that it has no adventure mode, so if you get bored fighting the same battles in the same environments over and over, it's not for you... i love it because i always play 2-player.) and the racing game i got is great too, because the controls are not too complicated, and it supports 4 players without lan nonsense. (flip side: my sis's bf is really into cars and stuff, and dislikes my racing game, because the controls are too simple. so, depends on your level of gear-queerness. he picked up... uhhh... some other racing game that's too hard for me. i forget which one.) mine is called midnight soemthing... uhhhh... i'd claim it's too early to remember, but i guess it's almost noon  :P anyway. it's underground street thugs racing for cash and respect, you can choose time of day to race, pedestrians and traffic, you run from the cops, bang up your car, fix it and pimp it... it's cool. it takes a bit o time to get used to how to find your route... i spent a few hours completely lost in the city, getting my ass beat in every race... but once you get the hang of it, awesome. jumping medians, going the wrong way, crashing road construction... why such degeneracy is such a stress releaser, i don't know :P

KOTOR 1 then KOTOR2

KOTOR2 is not all that different/improved from 1. Great game if you don't have 1... mediocre pickup if you have 1 already. That's the one big knock reviewers had. Oh but you can be pretty evil and go dark side. There's dark side force powers again, so if you decide to go that way you get a bonus on those. The cooler powers (force lightning, etc) are dark side anyway.

Welfare, there's a new Oddworld on its way soon: Oddworld Stranger's Wrath. Not exactly the same type of game though... half first-person shooter (with live ammo fired from a wrist-mounted crossbow), half third-person action/adventure... and the hero is not the scrawny Munch but the beefy rugged Stranger.

And the "midnight" driving game you're talking about is probably Midnight Club 2.

Right, and the 2k5's are all $20 or less. Enjoy while you can, before the EA exclusivity rolls in this coming year.
