not tjsut the mommies... the big mommas. the woman who makes christmas what it is. i just realized yesterday, waking up in my parents' house, how special and rare it is to be that woman. the one who gets the smells of pine, balsam, and cinnamon forever associated with christmas in your head, and the woman who makes sure that that is what you will smell when you walk in her door at christmas, without fail. the woman who takes the time to decorate christmas cookies, send a card to everyone she cares about, to host a huge party that takes two days to prepare for and a day to clean up after... the woman who took note of which kid likes spiderman and which one likes spongebob, who wrapped every gift, who nagged the teenage cousins to make sure they showed up to be with family for a few hours. the woman who empties out 4 boxes of christmas decorations all over the house, who got up early to go to the farmers market for fresh boughs for the mantle, who made sure there was a tree with lights and tinsel and every ornament every sloppy little preschooler she's related to has ever made hanging front and center. in short, this is a sincere thank you to the woman who makes christmas FEEL like christmas, instead of just another day that we happen to have off work. if your family is lucky enough to have one, give her an extra hug... and help her wash some dishes today, you lazy bum! :P

since we're miostly a young crowd here, i'm guessing obby and kb's wife may be the only ones actually here... you young'uns, go hug your mom or gramma.

i so agree with you WFL. moms and grandmoms are great at spoiling us. if you don't appreciate them right now you sure will when they are gone, but then... it's too late.

That's the truth...this is my first Christmas without my mom. It's amazing how much of an influence she was with respect to our enjoyment of the Holidays. For many of us, it was HER enjoyment of the Christmas season that made it fun for the rest of us. She was an amazing lady and my life is just not quite the same without her. Tell them how much you appreciate them now, while you can...I'm glad I don't have that regret.
