Today... I found an Ancient Oil Lamp... began polishing it... and to my Utter Amazement, the GAM Genie Magically Appeared!
http://www.illustratorsonline.com/simonton/genie.gif
I humbly asked this Powerful Genie to grant me a wish... it was agreed, and with a quick nod of his head... POOF, it was DONE!... instantly transformed from Bradley_P. into Hypnotist!
Thank you GAM Genie... I Can't wait to use the NEXT two wishes, LOL!

The answer is no, you would log on with your new user name.

GAM I wish Hypnotist would stop using a blue font.
My favorite color's blue.
My eyes are blue.
The default color scheme of G|A is blue.
The ocean's blue (and don't forget the largest living creature on the planet... it's blue too).
The sky is blue.
Love is blue.
AGAIN this year, the blue & silver (my Dallas Cowboys) blue it!
AND... I'M Blue because you didn't ask ME about my using blue.
Out of curiosity... what blue your mind about BLUE?
BigJon

Ok...so what's up with the blue then?

A lot of people use a dark background, which makes it extremely unreadable without highlighting your text. Please use text colors sparingly. ;)

Ok...so what's up with the blue then?
I dunno... just thought it went better with the picture--plus, until Jan. 2, I guess I have WAY too much time on my hands... no biggie. Sometimes forum posters should use the color "clear"... aka "invisible"... maybe this thread would qualify. I was just looking for a fun and light-hearted way to publically announce my screen-name change (only appropriate), and at the same time, Thank whomever allowed me to do it.

My graphic arts background gets me into MORE Trouble sometimes.

So...what brought on the name change?
Whoa ... just punched up the "old dark" screen format and the blue text in my posts almost vanishes. I totally get the clarity issue now. Sorry folks!
BigJon...I'll answer your question with the letter I submitted to "management"... _________________________________________________________________
Dear got|apex? Powers that Be,
Let me start by saying that I think your site is unique among the
multitude of "deal sites" on the internet today. The image and graphics are
attractive... the deal presentations and reviews are useful and valuable...
the forums are truly a community... and I beleive you good people behind the
curtain are committed, helpful and focused on the continued growth of your
business.
When I discovered this site (credit a poster from one of my c|net
threads), I landed briefly to ask an eBay question. The responses were
quick, intelligent, genuine and helpful! More importantly to me though, was
the welcoming attitude the community displayed in respose to my inquiry. I
must thank "DarkFury" for the gracious invitation to further explore the
possibilities here... I did... and I stayed. I am fiercely loyal, and I've
not only chosen to be loyal to this site, but I'd like to go beyond that. I
want to contribute to got|apex? becoming the preeminent deal promotion site
on the internet.
Therefore, I'm requesting that you allow me to change my current screen
name. I assure you, this is the first, last and ONLY name change request I
will ever make. Honestly, no dangerous or life-threatening circumstance
exits. Nobody in their right mind would stalk this ugly old guy, and my
multiple personality disorder isn't compelling me to change identities
moment to moment... (nor mine). But most importantly, let me assure you, I
have no criminal, deceptive or ulterior motive for pursuing this. The reason
for the request is simple. I just threw my real name in the box never
anticipating I'd enjoy this place so much. My "Magic World" friends (and
others), need to hear about G|A. Elsewhere, I'm known as Hypnotist... one of
my theatrical skills. They recognize this screen name on industry forums,
and as I invite them to check out G|A, I'd like them to be able to recognize
me immediately... that's it! So... Bradey_P. to Hypnotist... okay? Consider
it a Christmas gift to me. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
With YOU in mind,
Bradley P. Stevens
Hypnotist
And their response...

Dear Bradley: Thank you for your kind words and for being part of this

Based on my considerable sales experience... You have earned rewards far in excess of those you're requesting. And I vote Absolutely on the referral question... without a doubt, I would not be on G|A, nor be inclined to promote this site to others, had you not greeted me with a "warm and hardy handshake".
In that vein, are there promotional materials with logo I.D. available here? How is the site promoted elsewhere (on & offline)? Have they held site contests with rewards incentives for existing members? Do they offer referral comps? How fast do they want to grow?

Gothic Girl... your family must be very animated... or something. Actually I chose that particular photo because it reminded me of some of the gals and guys around here... you know, attractive, charismatic, talented, intelligent, colorful, expressive... NO WAIT, I'm describing myself... anyway, Credit Brew for the analogy. I agree, most appropriate.

Like dust, drapes can be gathered and I see the edit reference to 2005. Ya know... that's only hours away and I don't think I can hold on that long. Will you announce exciting news?
Maybe you noticed my previous inquiries. Are you the person with whom I am speaking... I mean, would you happen to be the person... to whom my previously posted... "promotional" questions... should more appropriately be addressed?
I.E., Do you know stuff around here?

Hmm... a valid point. Yeah Genie, and while you're firing up the T-shirt presses, crank up the embroidery machine as well. It's required for the first of my final requests.
And so, Oh Great and Powerful GAM Genie... this officially brings me to my 3RD and final WISH!
Lets see... I'd like an arsenal of G|A promotional items starting with a black leather bomber jacket (http://www.flyingjacket.com/bomber_jacket.htm) with a large G|A logo on the back (embroidered, of course), and a smaller matching logo over the left breast on front... Cool? We'll discuss the caps, pens and Hummers (SUV variety... although...Hmm, the others are nice too-so let's keep those on the table), just as soon as everyone gets their logo leather. :)
Very Sincerely,
Your current MASTER,
ME

BrewMaster... Remember, I'm nowhere near as experienced as you are in discussion forum post composition, design and etiquette. If you're willing to share some constructive criticism regarding my composition style or design with the intention of being truly helpful... Cool! I'm always open to suggestions. PM is the appropriate venue for this kind of thing... wouldn't you agree?

i didn't mean it as a shot at you Hypnotist, so I hope no offense was taken. but i don't think it has anything to do with inexperience either. most inexperienced posters don't know how to add bold, change font sizes, incorporate links to text, and add pictures in posts, all of which you've done in this thread. perhaps you're the exception, I dunno.
