View Full Version : S: Dead mobo and hard drive
My ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe is dead. Eight months old, bought from Fry's B&M. It's still under warranty, but I can't find my receipt. Need to call them to see if they can mail me a copy so I can RMA the damn thing. My Maxtor 40Gb drive died at the same time. Out of warranty.
This year is off to a great start.

Asus' RMA policy is pretty good, if you have problems lemme know, I can help.

Cool, thanks. I just filled out their online RMA form. I'll let you know how it goes.

:hmm: They both died at the same time in the same rig? Is P/S getting old? Sorry... hehe, I don't believe in coincidences.

The drive showed bad symptoms a couple days ago, but I thought I had taken care of it. It was going incredibly slow this morning so I decided to reboot. It tried to reboot a few times and got a BSOD each time. I turn the PC off using the switch on the PS itself (I've seen it fix random things like this) and it wouldn't come back to life at all. No POST, no diagnostic beeps, not even after I yaked the video card and RAM. I put the drive in my external USB enclosure and hooked it up to my laptop - no dice. It's dead as a doornail.
I dunno wtf happened. The only thing I can think of is static electricity, but I'm pretty paranoid and careful about that.
