go yahmaha they make the best ones. get a ysr-50 with an exchanged 80cc engine they're so fast for such a little thing, and they come with blinkers and everything.

i knew a guy (a couple years ago) that had a yamaha bike that was like 700 cc, under 2000 miles, and he was selling it for $1000 or so.

Once you get down to like $1200 and below you need to either wait for a deal like that or get something that needs repairs. At around $2000 you should be able to find a bunch of things. I would check out the local papers and even ebay. I sold 3 bikes on there for around $2000.

1989 Ninja 600R $2200
1994 Suzuki Katana $2100.

Katana's are a cheap sport touring that you should be able to find just under $2K. You will not find much 600cc bikes that are sub $2000.
