Well, we made it down from NJ on Friday, got the keys to our rental house in the Tampa area and proceeded to drive to DW. A little R&R the past couple of day (no parks, only pools at Boardwalk).

The only way to get the Jets' game today was through Real.com's NFL service, so here I am watching the girls take the big slide into the pool, listening to the Jets in OT (yikes, but Buffalo lost, so we're in) and posting on G|A for the first time in about a week.

We drive back to Tampa early tomorrow to meet the movers with all our crap (you never realize how much sh!t you have until it takes professional movers a day to pack it and another to load the truck...and it was a big truck.).

We won't have power until Tuesday as the backwards ass power company isn't working tomorrow (they're closed for New Year's on the 3rd???), so we're staying in a hotel near my office). Hopefully by Tuesday, we're up and running with broadband at home again.

That's all for now, haven't seen the kids in a few minutes...better go check on them.

Very odd feeling not being up a northeasterner but I guess we'll adjust.

Once we get settled hopefully I'll post more about the move.

Happy New Year to all!

If I ever move 1200 miles again, someone shoot me. Nah, it wasn't that bad. But we're still chock full o' boxes in Land O' Lakes.

Posted some about it here (http://www.gotapex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82949).

I guess the most difficult parts have been the dislocation from the rest of the family (large Irish/Italian NY clan) and school for the kids. At 9 and 6 they're pretty resilient and it's a good school district...so that's good. While I don't officially start for another week, I've been to the office a few times for meetings and such and it's first rate -- a wonderful facility.

As yesterday was the first Sunday in our rental house, I made sauce (and the associated meat) and while it tasted fine, it wasn't with the rest of the family at my parents'. We all did speak with them for a while, though.

The weather has been wonderful. Even when there has been fog in the AM, it burns off by 10AM and the temps have all been in the low 80's. I've grilled a few times and picked up a wonderful rack of ribs I'll work over in the next couple of days. Couldn't do that back home.

Also nice was a restaurant/bar I went to on Saturday night to watch the Jets' game with some colleagues and other displaced Jets' fans NY Jets Tampa Bay Fan Club (http://www.jets-fan.com).

Went to visit our builder the other day as our house still hasn't been started (it was supposed to be started in Sep/Oct). Vented my spleen and while I'm sure it won't change things at least I felt a little better. I guess we'll be in the rental a little longer than expected.
