well, don't ask them... because i don't think they know. right now, evilgremlin is playing with a sheet of foam in a chip clip, evilninja is happily smacking the crap out of packing peanuts with a potato masher, and evilgenius is standing expectantly, watching me type, waiting for me to pick up the sharpie again and scribble out upc codes on boxes i want to mail, because apparently "sharpie on corrugated cardboard" is the only rhythm he can dance to.
strike that. apparently, keyboard-tapping is perfectly danceable, too.
ahhh, the simple pleasures... i think for their birthdays, they're getting dirt, rocks, and sticks.

at cristmas, my 5 month old baby was more enthralled looking at the wrapping paper. I think for her first birthday it'll be bubble wrap and a box.
My spoiled 9 year old son got 7 new games and he's still complaining.

my parents tell me that when i was 4 years old and younger i was perfectly happy with a pot and a wooden spoon on the floor of the kitchen. they were not happy with the noise i made, but it saved them a bunch of cash by not needing to buy me "useless" toys. i think some of my baby toys were brand new when my mom passed them on to my younger cousins.

Christmas Morning, my almost two year old son got the most fun out of a box that was filled to the brim with styrofoam peanuts. He would grab handfuls, throw them up in the air and yell, "It's Snowing!" (Or 'Nowing, as he says it.)
This went on for probably 40 minutes while the rest of us opened our presents and I wondered if the tiny little styrofoam pieces would ever get completely cleaned up.
Regardless, it was the happiest i had seen him in a long time and whouldn't have traded that moment for the world.
