Ok... so the girl i took to dallas is out of the picture mostly now right... a nice lady i know hooked me up with this girl from her office the other day. I've been talking to her on the phone, and took her out on a bilnd date for lunch last week... I've offered to cook her dinner on friday night since last time worked out so well...
Sooooo, i need more food ideas. I wanna serve up white wine again, (cause i dislike red wine) so i guess it needs to go with white wine.
NO SEAFOOD. (she doesn't like seafood). Everything else is game. And, since my buddy moved in two weeks ago, i have a lot more cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc. So i think i'm all set there.
Remember, I need recepies and instructions too...
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

chicken-alfredo lasagne would go with white wine.
and make a spinach salad with that. foodtv.com has lots of recipes for this type of thing.
given the guidlines you gave, you're definately on the road to chicken.

I have a great BBQ ribs recipe (made in a crockpot)
Buy beef short ribs(No bone) pack them into a crockpot as best you can along with some Lawrys seasoning salt. Make you sure you pack them in you them to be covered in thier own juices to make them super tender. No water or anything else. Cook on slow for 10 hrs.
Then pull them out place them on a oven pan pour some hunts honey hickory BBQ sauce on them and bake for 15 min on 400 or so degrees.
mmm mmm mmm

absolutely. use this recipe (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_18497,00.html) for the sauce but instead of the crappy rice idea, boil some pasta and serve it over the pasta. you can exclude the asaparagus or 'shrooms if you don't like them, but i think they will add a great flavor. and again, don't forget the salad.

If you happen to know if she is very conscience of what she eats or anything like that, a white sauce is generally not so good for you. Particularly alfredo is very fattening and such, might not be her thing.

this girl didnt seem to worry about that so much... she's 28, has a 2yr old, and weighs 105lbs... she said after her kid she only weighed like 94lbs and was happy to get back up to 105ish. she doesnt seem to have a problem with her weight (that i know of)
i told her monday that i woudl cook for her... then yesterday i was talking to her, and she told me she was really suprised that i volunteered to do that and basically said it had been a REALLY long time since anyone had.... then when i went into detail about how i was going to cook it from scratch (instead of out of a box stuff) she was REALLY suprised....
keep the ideas coming folks. I appreciate each and every one of them... i'll have to pick one out here soon (tonight sometime) and then start getting the ingredients.

Nano, you may want to give the recipe a test run yourself if you have time just so that come Friday you can make it in a snap and not run into any unforeseen problems. Good luck mang!

how bout some jambalaya, receipe from the cajun cook himself emeril.
Was very simple to make, and i added alot more heat
http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_9525,00.html
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 35 minutes
Yield: 4 servings
12 medium shrimp, peeled, deveined and chopped
4 ounces chicken, diced
1 tablespoon Creole seasoning, recipe follows
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/4 cup chopped celery
2 tablespoons chopped garlic
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
3 bay leaves
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon hot sauce
3/4 cup rice
3 cups chicken stock
5 ounces Andouille sausage, sliced
Salt and pepper
In a bowl combine shrimp, chicken and Creole seasoning, and work in seasoning well. In a large saucepan heat oil over high heat with onion, pepper and celery, 3 minutes. Add garlic, tomatoes, bay leaves, Worcestershire and hot sauces. Stir in rice and slowly add broth. Reduce heat to medium and cook until rice absorbs liquid and becomes tender, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes. When rice is just tender add shrimp and chicken mixture and sausage. Cook until meat is done, about 10 minutes more. Season to taste with salt, pepper and Creole seasoning.

You seem to be getting a lot of good ideas but I have to ask one question. What you did last time seemed to work quite well for you so why not just stick with the winning formula? Make the same dish. Maybe you'll have the same success.
If it ain't broke don't fix it! :bandit:

Chicken cacciatore with a homemade tomato and whine sauce. Also, the left over sauce you can make a nice spaghetti or ziti dish. You like veggies? How about some peas and onions sautéed in an olive oil sauce with light garlic of course. Also maybe a nice little salad, I like Caesar myself. I love fresh string beans too, you can boil them and then sauté them in an oil and vinaigrette sauce. You like pork chops?

Believe it or not-alot of people DO NOT want wine with their dinner..alot of people prefer water with lemon, or iced tea..then wine after dinner or before..
I suggest getting a beef or pork tenderloin-they cook fast-are ALWAYS tender and are yummmmyyyy...throw some olive oil in a pan, roll the meat in it-then cover it with black pepper, garlic powder, parsley, salt, and oregano-bake it till the juice runs clear...(can't give you a time-depends on weight and size of tenderloin, and your oven)...make a simple salad, some nice HOT bread (buy the frozen bread dough, thaw it, let it rise and throw it in the oven while the meat is cooking), and make up a nice fiesta potato (cut a baking potato into 1/4 inch slices, do the same with a sweet potato, alternate the slices-to the size of one potato, place it in tinfoil, with butter pats over the top, add salt and pepper-roll in foil and bake..mmmmm
have cut fruit for desert-oranges, grapes, poms, and some kiwi.

the sad part is, i think i'm going to all this trouble for nothing... I'm not even sure if i like her that much (although she is pretty easy to talk to on the phone) and she's the first girl I've tried dating this year thats been more shy / conservative than I. But, i guess i'm doing it to have a good time... and who knows, maybe i'll take a better likeing to her now that she's loostened up a little.

:thumb: Good choice. Might I suggest using fettuchini instead of the spaghetti and adding chopped asparagus and minced garlic to the mix. That is pretty much the formula I use in situations like this, well that and a bottle of chianti, and have found it to be oral panty remover. :bandit:
