i love ice skating. :)
and none of that synthetic ice. that's like playing football on artificial turf. it takes away from the game imho.
it's gotta be real ice and on an outdoor rink.

synthetic ice? Didn't even know it existed. Can you tell I have never been ice skating? :)

Eeeeh. I only like ice skating in the summer, when you can appreciate the coldness of the rink

Synth Ice? Do you mean ice that is produced mechanically by an ice machine in your freezer? :P Or do you mean the way they freeze indoor ice skating rinks ?

no, wollman rink in central park is real ice. it melts and gets pretty wet and messy when it is warm. (unless they've changed it since last year. i haven't been by there this winter.)
the rink at rockefeller center is also real ice. i've see them spraying water on the cement to start freezing it.
for me, i think the main benefit of cold weather is skiing. if i can't ski, i'd rather not have cold weather.

Gotcha. I didn't realize that there was such a thing as synthice. I used to iceguard in hs and I got sick of skating around in circles for hours at a time. I probably would enjoy it much more now but when I was iceguarding your feet would get soooo sore after 3+ hrs of skating.

I love to skate..the best place to skate is on a frozen pond or small lake that is frozen almost solid..ahhh..memories...taking my kids out on the ice in their double runners, laughing as they fell down in their big puffy snowsuits...big grins when they finally caught on... seems like just yesterday....
