Display Disappeared

Whilst I was playing with my PC, the display started to roll and entire picture disappeared, but the PC is still running. When I reset - the NO SYNC sign appeared on the screen and PC is running. What could have happened here?Could it be a faulty video card? :disa:

If all your cables are secure then your card probably overheated. Let it rest overnight and check it in the morning. If it turns on, check your video card fan to see if it spins.

Everything is fine except the PC would not boot up. It goes thru the boot-up process but you will not hear the ping sound and nothing appear on the screen. Could it be the HDD or something? :neartears

Are your case fans powering up and do your HDD not only power up, do you hear them seeking? If you don't see anything, and your HDs are not seeking (like they do when Windows starts up) then your mobo or CPU is toast(sometimes power supply, but usually mobo or CPU). If they are seeking normally, then it's most likely your mobo or video card.

Can you get a known good cpu or video card to swap in?

BIRES - All the fans are running except that it won't boot-up - there is no beep. I intend to strip and reassemble all mobo parts. Will adv later. Tku

could be a case where your harddrive is dieing on you.

back to your display problem? if it doesn't display turn off your monitor, then then off your PC. turn on the monitor, then power up the PC again. that should get your display working again.

If there is no beep, when booting up; that is a good indication that you have a video card problem. The video card is one of the first things tested in P.O.S.T.

My recommendation is to take the video card out and replace it with a known good one. This will at least allow you to narrow down the problem.

also try unplug the power and make sure your *shock free* open the case up, and pull your video card out dust it off and put it back in again. Taking it out may do somthing to the bios which might reset the card as when you put it in brand new, then you should know if its deffinently the video card that has the problem.
