Up For Grabs This Week:
WARNER SPRINGS RANCH - GOLF FOR FOUR
Enter to win one round of golf with (2) carts for you and three friends! (Monday - Thursday only). The ranch golf course is a classic resort design ... fun and somewhat forgiving from the white tees but a challenging test of golf from the blue or black tees. The 6892-yard, par 72 course features big sweeping views of Mount Palomar and San Diego's highest peak, Hot Springs Mountain. Nestled in the mountainous Valle de San Jose, 3,100 feet above sea level adjacent to the resort, the course is the highest in San Diego County. Wildlife is abundant around the course and wild turkeys, deer and bobcats are spotted daily by golfers and walkers on the exercise path that surrounds the course. With this certificate, golfers will enjoy a weekday of golf, and cart rental for half price. Located at 31652 Hwy 79 in Warner Springs, CA.

I am assuming that you actually used the word and it worked
Itsme

It worked for me.
The morning word is given live and sometimes made up on the spot by Rick. CJ, Rick's producer, says that as a result sometimes it takes awhile before she can get the word programmed in on the web site.
The words for later in the day are put into recorded messages for broadcasting, so she says they should always work right away.

Ok question for you Captain Drew,
when you say it worked does that mean that you used the word online but yet you did not receive the email? :throw:
There are sometimes that people submit email codes on here that I "do not" get emails for, and then there are sometimes that they submit them on here and I do. I just want to know if I am the only one that this happens to, or if they randomly select people to not share newsletters with to see if they are point sharing. The emails that I don't receive I don't use the codes for. (And yes I am signed up for the newsletters). :spock:
Paniolo
02-17-2005, 11:10 AM
Regardless that "it worked" for him, you should not enter any email/newsletter KFMB codes...unless you receive them yourself.
He problably would not want to post a response to you publicly that he did not receive the email newsletter, but used the code anyway. N :eek2: :eye: o sense in drawing attention to himself by 'prying eyes' that may/may not be monitoring these forums.

I never do enter codes that I don't receive on my own. I just wanted to know if other had this happen with them on email/newsletter codes as well. I wanted to know if people noticed that others were getting newsletters that they were not, or if it was just me...:disa:

for the very reason you mention, email codes can be a trap
(although we may be giving them ideas they haven't though of)
there is little or no value to posting them here as
:2far: :2far:
no one should submit it unless they subscribe to the newsletter

Sparklet - I use to run into that problem as well. I would get it every once in a while. I even verified that my account info showed I had checked the box to get the newsletter. I still got it sporadically.

10,000 Point Winner: Franklin Lowe
Looks like they replayed yesterday's word....they just changed the word to HEARING.
10,000 Point Winner: Earnest Gee
Sorry for the confusion. They announced a word and 10,000 winner, and then they realized they had the wrong info...so they corrected it within a minute or so.
I am confused. So is Congress the WOD again or is it Hearing? :dead:

Actually, what the author of the post was referring to is "poison codes". Previously, poison codes have been posted which cause anyone inputing the code to lose all points.
"Poison codes" will actually give you points, but they have negative consequences.

No he is not. Read what he said, again. He is talking around the issue. What he said was: “They mean for a code to be valid somebody has to have HEARD it. Typing it in and getting the points doesn't necessarily mean the code's good.” You are putting words/concepts in his mouth.
The whole point of this tread is to provide input to people who might have missed the Word. Right?
That's the point 'Fprincess' was trying to make yesterday.
No it is not. She got burned because she accepted a word that some of us erroneously put up there and due to Rick’s garbled presentation, some of us heard a letter that wasn’t there. She heard the same word correctly, but her confidence level was shaken when she saw our misspelling and she was “talked out” of the correct word. THAT is why “confirmed” is important. The Rear Admiral didn’t even mention “confirmed”.
and 'Confirmed' means you HEARD/SAW it YOURSELF, not that it is accepted when you input it...'poison' codes also work.
THAT is the one thing you said I agree with. AND the point I was making in my original comment, to which you took exception. ‘Poison’ codes ONLY work if no one can “confirm” that they heard the Word. Again, I point out that this game is only for SD County residents.

I have seen many "senior" members do things that could easily get them busted by someone watching a forum.. such as posting their point totals or thanking someone for an obscure code (gives a timeframe to look at of when it was entered). It's not always going to be a poison code.. one's own carelessness will do it as well.

These rules are guidelines used on the Couch Potato forum. They are just something that the the senior members use on the forum, and they are not set in stone.
I realize that this is your forum. I am just a guest, and I very much appreciate all each of you do. These "guidelines" may help to ensure that everyone keeps their accounts.

2. We confirm codes.
- If you're new don't take it personal if someone confirms a code that you post. Confirming is what works for us.
- Poison codes do exist (Examples: krusty, golf2004), their intention is to catch those who brake the rules.
- You confirm by actually hearing or seeing the code (and recieving the code directly from the origional source), not by another source or testing the code to see if it works (Poison codes work too).
- No confirming your own post, a code and a confirmation are two seperate posts.
3. No Guessing or Cheating.
- Don't post guessed codes or put codes in early (like a bonus event that has not started yet or answer to a trivia question that has not been revealed yet).
- Only post a code if you see or hear it yourself, only confirm a code if you see or hear it yourself.
- Do not post a code from another forum unless that code has been confirmed by a Senior member on that forum. You also need to mention the forum you got the code from in you post.
4. Test all codes before you post them.
- Make sure you get your points in green letters (Trivia) or a green confirmation box (codes) that says "Congratulations".
- Make sure the spelling is correct once you post it, everybody makes mistakes, buy some mistakes could cost us all our points.
- Do not compete to see who can post their code first, if somebody beat you, you can always confirm.
- Red means stop (no posting the code whatsoever), sometimes the code is correct and FOX6 will reward you those points later with an email confirmation. By then it's usually too late to post that code, but we cannot afford to post the code under any uncertain conditions.
5. Listen to Senior members and respect fellow members.
- Senior members have alot of experience, which you can trust, and they usually know what's best. They have tons of great advice too.
- Provoking or belittling other members is unacceptable, if you can't respect and show basic curtisy to other people, you should not be participating in any forum - let alone this one.
- If this sounds paranoid or ridiculous to you, please refrain from making posts on our forum. You put the rest of us in jepordy.
6. Be specific about the source of the code.
- In addition to posting the code, give a source. For example FITM (Fox in the mornig), Simpson code, upn13 code, Fox6 10pm (News at 10pm), Special event (name the event) code, Internet code, etc.
- If you just post a code without a source, you will recive suspicion or even hostility from other members.

GOLF FOR TWO AT MT. WOODSON COUNTRY CLUB PROVIDED BY ADMINISTAFF
A round of golf for two (with cart) at Mt. Woodson Country Club provided by Administaff. With breathtaking mountain and valley views, Mt. Woodson offers challenging play in one of the region's most dramatic golf course settings. Set amidst ancient towering oaks, huge granite boulders and sparkling lakes, the course is considered one of San Diego's best and most scenic. This beautifully maintained classic 18-hole Schmidt/Curley design was patterned after more traditional courses where shot-making is at a premium. (760) 788- 3555.

This brings up the issue that it appears the Forum “clock” is off. I heard it coming in from the garage at approximately 1202 . . by the time I got to the computer it was 1203 (Atomic World Time) and you guys had posted already . . but the Forum clock on your posts says 1159. Anything we can do to correct the Forum clock? Or is that function in Calcutta or Bombay <g> :disa:

Nope .. . not that I have ever heard. Rick and Co. have made occasional vague references to “new stuff” going to be made available soon . . but that is the closest I have ever heard to renewing the booty.
I guess we are on our own to go and look, from time to time. Some of the folks here have “cut ‘n paste” stuff every few days. But they sometimes get chewed out for “using bandwidth”. :boxing:
