Unbelievable

Did some shopping around online back in November for deals on Big Screen HDTV's. Found out that BestBuy had the "Best Deal" on one but it had to be purchased online for the price break. I never take no for an answer so I went to the store and they matched their own online price and even let me in on the fact that I could get just under $300 in "Reward Zone" (RZ) points by signing up for their BestBuy Credit Card.

Sale went through, got the TV in 2-days but have yet to receive my Reward Zone rebates I was promised. After an hour on hold and being transferred a million times I reached a RZ rep who told me that the rebates were mailed out at the end of December and that they totalled $160. When I asked about the amount, the rep apologized and said that the salesperson must've mis-calculated - didn't know you could "sweeten the deal" and back out now-a-days, thought there was some law against what I was told even though it was a verbal from a store clerk???

Oh yeah, this gets even better if you've managed to read my long winded version of the account. When BestBuy mails your rebates out, they charge you for it - that was never spelled out - check it out:

Earn PointsAs a member of the Reward Zone program, earn 100 points ("Points") for nearly every $1 you spend on almost any purchase when you show your membership card ("Membership Card") at time of purchase in-store, or when you enter your membership number online for BestBuy.com purchases. Points will post to your account approximately 30 days from in-store purchase, date of delivery or date of shipment. No adjustments to your account ("Account") will be made after the actual purchase date. Earn additional points through special offers and promotions. Points calculations are based upon dollars spent at checkout on eligible purchases less any dollars spent on sales tax, state fees, shipping charges, delivery charges, restocking fees, rebates applied at the time of purchase, the dollar amount of available mail-in rebates at the time of purchase of any product or service, the dollar amount of any promotional Gift Card offer with purchase, or other excluded charges. Points are not added to your Account for dollars spent on Membership enrollment or renewal fees, certain products or services or Gift Cards. Points are not awarded for commercial or industrial accounts at Best Buy. Points are not added to your account for the amount of any reward certificates ("Certificates") redeemed or discounts. When products are returned to the store or by mail, Points will be deducted from your Account for that purchase. Other exclusions may apply. Points apply only to the first Membership Card scanned in connection with any purchase. Membership Cards and Points have no cash value and are non-transferable. Lost or stolen Membership Cards will not be replaced. Best Buy is not responsible for communications, including Certificates, lost due to change of address or other contact information. Points that remain on your Account expire and are forfeited when your Membership expires.
Get RewardsFor every 15,000 points you earn in the Reward Zone program, you will be eligible to receive reward certificates ("Certificate[s]") redeemable for a $5 discount off your future purchase of any eligible products or services at participating Best Buy retail store locations. Certificates are not redeemable towards online purchases. [B]15,000 points are automatically deducted from your account for every $5 Certificate issued to you, 30,000 points are automatically deducted from your account for every $10 Certificate issued to you, and 60,000 points are automatically deducted from your account for every $20 Certificate issued to you. Check www.MyRewardZone.com for the details on choices you have about how Certificates are issued to you. Certificates will be delivered 6–8 weeks after in-store purchase, delivery or order fulfillment. Certificates are not redeemable for cash. Certificates are coupons for discounts off future in-store purchases and may only be redeemed for a discount off purchase amounts greater than the amount of the sum of the Certificates presented for redemption at Best Buy retail stores, excluding tax. Certificates may be used in conjunction with most other discounts or offers towards the purchase of products not to exceed purchase amount. Some exclusions may apply. Each Certificate expires and must be redeemed within 90 days from the date it is issued. Certificates have a cash value of 1/100th of a cent. No photocopies or facsimiles accepted. Certificates are not valid on prior purchases, certain products and services, purchase of Gift Cards, as payment on your Best Buy credit card or for tax or state fees. Certificates are not redeemable for cash and no change will be given for certificate redemption. You may be notified of additional ineligible products and services. Other restrictions may apply. Lost, stolen, or expired Certificates will not be replaced.

Um...you do realize that you are REDEEMING the points for the gift certificate, right. I have never had it be more than the correct deduction per amount redeemed.

That's the way it works, your points are redeemed for the certificates.

let me "splain" something to you:
Best Buy reward zone and the Best Buy Credit Card are two different things. I have a RZ card but not the credit card. For every 150 dollars you spend instore you recieve a $5 Gift certificate in the mail. The gift certificates are different from actual mail in rebates. Mail in rebates you actually have to mail in still, RZ certs are sent to your house in the mail or email everytime you make a single purchase or enough purchases to total $150 or more.

BTW they arnt charging you anything. All you paid was 10 dollars for a 1 year membership.

Read the info wrong, thought it meant that on top of what they were "redeeming" there was a charge - must've been fuzzy from the anger of not actually getting the points I was originally promised.
