or do you kinda slowly roooooooll through it?
i just got pulled over on the way home from work and thought it was for going 10 miles over the speed limit, which i usually consider safe to do, but it was for not stopping completely at a stop sign. :|
so as i am leaving, with just a reprimand thank you, i watch to see 3 vehicles in front of me at the next stop sign not come to a complete stop and just kinda roll out. i wonder if there are more roll outters or more complete stoppers?

are you kidding me? mebbe 1/90 times do i stop all the way if there's no traffic.
I usually do. I definitely do if it's not safe to make the turn - traffic, blind turn, etc - , which is more than a lot of people can say.

i was in my work uniform, which is not very becoming.
the cop asked me if i knew why he had pulled me over and i said, "because i was going 10 miles over the speed limit?" he said, "yes, you were, but i stopped you for not coming to a complete stop at that stop sign. did you realize you did that?"
i said, "no, i didn't realize that. i am so sorry."
he said, "it's not a big deal, just get in the squad car and do me and we can forget about it."
ok, the last part never was said except he did say, "it's not a big deal." :P
but i really didn't do anything special to get just a reprimand.

In California, there's a subtle 1st gear rule.

that's like asking "do you stop and look when an ugly girl/guy passes by"
most of the time no, if they're particularly ugly, i might stop to point and laugh - just kidding

I usually do. I have been stopped for it more than once (wrongly, I might add) and every time I was able to sucessfully argue that I did come to a complete stop. Both times I was stopped for it by a police officer, they were about 60-80 yards away and in twilight conditions. The best part of my argument for one was when he asked if I came to a compete stop and I replied, "Of course I did, because I see you guys pull people over all the time here for just that thing." I also asked him how he could see how I stopped when he could judge that I had not come to a complete stop when he was looking at my car head-on from about 80 yards away and in failing light. He couldn't answer me that one. Seeing how I was going to make him look when I got in front of a judge with this, he let me go with a request to watch my speed. :D
I would have thought this woulda been moved to the Auto/Transportation forum pronto
I always stop completely at stop signs. In my neighborhood, the stop signs aren't regulation size, nor are the speed limit signs they put up, so I take them as "suggestions"

Can't say I have ever been pulled over for that. I do it, but not that often, and only out in the country where there isn't any traffic as far as the eye can see.

if I'm with my wife I always do. Otherwise about 50% of the time

depends on time of day and the area i'm in. if it's city driving, many cars, especially cabs, have a habit of gliding right through them. a friend and i were hit by a cab that did this, so i'm especially cautious in the city since then.
other than that, i stop just enough to where it's arguable if pulled over :P

usually, but it depends on the area. if i'm out in BFE and i know the area, and there's no traffic (with a clear line of sight), i'm likely to kind of roll through. in town, with no traffic, i come to the "almost stop", and then go.
I'm really paranoid about it, so I stop about 95% of the time. I can't say I do it all the time, but a majority of the time would be an understatement. I just can't help it. I've seen too many people get into accidents by this simple task.

Yes, I always stop, and most of my driving is on desolate country roads. I also obey all other traffic laws, including using my turn signals even when there isn't another car between me and the horizon.
20 years ago I was a very poor inattentive driver and got busted a lot. So now I just follow the laws out of habit in the middle of nowhere so I don't have to worry about it when I'm in a more populated area.

...if it has a white border around it, it's optional......
i usually come to a complete stop...depends on when and where it is....2am and i'm the only one on the road....when i can see NO headlights for miles....i might roll a little

i always do a complete stop at the corner where i got my first stop sign ticket
I always do. In my hometown the cops love to bust you if you don't come to a complete stop, so it's a habit that stuck.

I do most of the time. We have one in my neighborhood and people run it all the time. It pisses me off b/c we have little kids all over the place.

Do I have to put my foot on the ground or can I balance on my bicycle pedals? In Colorado they refer to not completely stopping as a "California Stop".

Only when a cop is watching me and when the intersection obviously looks dangerous.

In Vegas, you kinda have to to avoid the Californians that are rolling through the stop signs. ;)

Most of the time if I am around my city yes, just slam the brakes hard :D. My stepdad got a ticekt for it, and I know the cops in my hometown will give a ticket for ANYTHING. So I always make a complete stop if I am in an area where a cop could be.

I just about got smoked at an intersection this morning on my way to work. This guy didn't even slow down and just blew threw the stop sign right as I was about to make a left turn. He laid on his horn all the way through the intersection and I could see he was swearing up a storm as he went past.
I can only hope he goes through that intersection later in the full daylight and feels like an idiot when he sees there is a stop sign.

Hahahaha! I'm ashamed to admit I've done that before.... I was coming up to a T on a side road, and visibility was pretty bad (kind of a foggy rain). I assumed I had the right of way since the road I was on went straight through, but actually the person TURNING had the right of way, and there was a stop sign that I totally blew through. I wondered why the guy at the turn was giving me such a dirty look until I saw the back of the stop sign in my mirror.
I felt pretty stupid about that.
