A dollar is too small to specifically earmark for something. So like the others, I'd just toss it in with the general fund/petty cash in my wallett and most likely wind up using it as lunch money.
Now, what would you do if you found a $100 or a $1,000 that would be more interesting.

Depends.
If I found it at a scouting event (where kids would lose it) I would hand it over to the "adult organizer" person.
If I found it on the street, I'd keep it.

This just happened to me last week outside Rite-Aid. I ask the guy in front of me if it was his and he said no. So I just stuck it in my wallet.

I would probably keep it if nobody was around or ask people who were around if it was theirs. In the end I would keep it.
This question came up at work a few weeks ago and one of my coworkers says that he donates any money that he finds.

This question came up at work a few weeks ago and one of my coworkers says that he donates any money that he finds. We used to do that. We would even make sure to donate the coins we'd find under the seat in the car. Then I just decided it was easier to increase the amount of my regular giving, and keep the pocket change...

I'd put it in my wallet, buy a drink probably sooner or later.
I once found $100 bill at Angel Stadium (now the home of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim). I was maybe 11, and veeeery excited. At the end of the event the people in the car next to us asked if we found it... I sadly sad yes. The guy gave me $20 though.

No, cuz I found it before the event and no one was around. They asked us when they say us at the car afterwards and were frantically searching, the wife I think was crying. So yah. Of course she asked me in such a weird way, "Will you give us, I understand if you won't, our money back to help our sons survive and eat with what little we have?"
I'd feel like such an ass if I said no...

Ha ha ha, that reminds me of this lady near my old apartment that used to sit at the bus stop begging for money. Each day she would come up with something new to say. One day it was "can you spare some money so I can buy my son some food? we're living off of top ramen right now." the next day it was her grandkids she needed the money for, and the next week it was her 8 kids.

that is sad. i wonder if folks who can barely feed their kids should be going to Angels games. there might be a better way to manage the funds. not to mention the Angels sucked back in the day so they'd depress their starving kids even more.

Well... the reason I said event instead of game is cuz I didn't know what to call it. But it was some sort of motocross thing. My friend's mom works for Kawasaki which is how I ended up there and it is very likely these people knew someone and got in free as ell. Even so, the admission price was very cheap.

so what would you do with all the change? :heh:
i once found $40 in an atm at meijers (a wal-mart type store). i took it and never turned it in. this was about 5 years ago. i still feel bad. i think i'll donate an extra $40 sometime to get the monkey off my back.
If I keep it I would feel bad about it and nothing would go right for a week......But if I gave it to charity or donated it to the needy (the really needynot that fake chick Gothic girl knows.....lol) I would feel better and everything would go my way and maybe someone will find my truck keys and give em back...it will cost me over $1000 to get the locks redone and reset the electronic locks...did you see my keys???? :censored:I just don't see it that way.
If your going to donate money, donate YOUR OWN money. Don't donate someone elses money just so you don't feel guilty.

Get a can of Slurm..lol
I never find money, except for a torn peice of Argentinian currency. Which was odd, considering I'm in Cincinnati...
However, an interesting thread would be weird stuff found on the side of the road. As a LEO, on of my jobs is to take felons out to the highway to do trash pickup, etc. I always let them keep any petty money they found in the grass or such, but wallets and stuff I take to get back to the owner if possible. But man you find the damndest stuff on the side of the road... We've found everything from weapons(carfully bagged to give to CSI) to uniforms to grills to furniture to...an artificial leg. Man you know SOMEONE was missing that the next morning.....

Weird - the last money I found was $5CDN laying in a pile of leaves under my deck. Guess that'll come in handy next time I cross the border...
