Cheap Comcast internet for current subscribers - YMMV

I've been using Comcast for high speed internet for a couple of years, and I've been meaning to call them to get them to pricematch one of their current promotions - I was hoping to get in on the $19.95/mo for 6 months.

I gave them the line about switching to DSL because the of lower cost, and they switched me to customer service. I told them that I wanted the 19.95/mo for 6 months (I was paying $47/mo). She came back & said that I couldn't get in on that promotion because of some BS reason, and offered me 6 months at $34.95/mo. Not too bad, but I knew other people were paying less.

I persisted & asked if there were any other promotions that might be available, becase DSL was looking better & better. She put me on hold for a minute, and came back with another promotion that she 'just found'. A full year at $22/month! I said I'll take it, thank you very much.

Obviously a big YMMV on this one, but the option is in their system, if you can convince them to give it to you.

Thanks for the post. Asked if they'd knock mine down.. they came back and gave me 29.95 a month for a year.. not as good as your 22, but hey.. it's a savings.

My Comcast rep said "no way, you just got off a promo in September"... I read my current Qwest DSL promo of $25 x 2months and then $30 afterwards and he just told me about the increase of 3MBps to 4 MBps coming in March.

I love my cable so I don't think I was very convincing that I was at all tempted to switch to DSL. :dead:

well they gave me 29.95 for 6 months, but hey that's 60 bucks savings. I know with a bit more talking i could have gotten it to 12, but i was mad hungry and wanted to eat dinner... lol

I just got $30/month for 12 months and got my cable bill reduced as well. My bill went from $138/month to $97/month for the next year! :)

Hey! thanks Jeff! I reduced mine too - reduced my $70 package (std + HBO + Cinemax) to $45 + $29.99 internet for 6 months... I'll take that - no sweat at all...

wow even better, i bet they will jac up the price though after the 6-month plan is over, i can't believe there is no contract. oh well I'll tell my dad to give it a try. w00t!!!!! :cool:

After listening to the guy tell my why cable was better than DSL for 10min, he gave me $19.99 for 4 months. I went ahead and added Digital Cable and that Comcast DVR for $8.50 more than I pay for TV now (for 6 months), so for the next 4 months I'm a net -$13.
