Well it happened yet again. Less than a month after buying a piece of technology, it fails me. This time the device was used, so I'll have to go through the manufacturer to repair it (but luckily the seller still has the receipt, so I can cover it under warranty).

Anyways, the item in question is one of those Wrist.NET MSN Direct watches (the ones that receive news, weather, movie listings, and other such updates via Microsoft's SPOT technology (FM frequencies). I glanced down at my wrist today and saw a blank screen. No amount of poking at the buttons or putting the device on the charger can bring this puppy back to life. It's dead Jim. :(

For those wondering, this is a very common occurance with me and tech items. It all started with my first CD recorder ever (Ricoh MP6200S 2x SCSI drive), and has included items such as scanners, memory, processors in my laptop, MP3 players, and more. Funny thing is, if I buy them for someone else, everything works just fine.

I hate being cursed by the technology gods.

Let's form a club. I have the same luck. Sometimes I'd like to blame hardware failures on old or bad wiring. Sometimes I'll admit stupidity. Sometimes I'm at a loss for words to explain how something that was in tip top shape the day before seemingly self-destructs.

That definately sounds like me. When I killed my ATI All-in-Wonder 128 the day I got it, that was stupidity (oh walt, that one was bad wiring.... surprised my whole computer didn't die from THAT spark). Other things are my fault, but still the technology gods sometimes frown upon me and give me a lemon.

Now of course I have to contact Fossil and see if they'll warrantee the watch (it was purchased by its original owner less than 90 days ago, so I should hope we can do something).

As for Jane83's question, I wouldn't know if they advertise it on billboards in the States. If they use the slogan "Your Calendar, Your Weather, Your Watch" or something along those lines, then yes it's the same kind of watch.

do not tell them you got it from ebay.

You can always fake up a word reciept from Computers4sure.com and use that, because A) most places will accept internet style reciepts because they don't have much choice and b)computers4sure pretty muchs sells everything
