After reading enough reviews, I decided to move away from Norton AntiVirus when my subscription expires this year. (I picked up a Panda Platinum that is free after rebate from Fry's last week.) However, seeing that this deal is free after rebate, I just might spring for it so as to have the tools available in my arsenal.

[edit] On second thought, I just noticed that the $30.00 rebate is a "Competitive upgrade" (form in box). Without knowing the details of that, I won't risk it.

I used to be all about Norton products, but they just seem so slow and bulky. The only Norton product I run anymore is Ghost because I can't find a better alternative.

I got Systemworks Pro last July because there was a similar offer, "Free after Rebates". I got the $30 rebate, but I never got the $50 rebate, their explanation on their postcard was that the vendor didn't qualify. The vendor was Fry's. I called Norton they said to disregard the postcard and I will get the rebate, but it never came. I followed up and called Norton, but never got that rebate.

As a follow on, I noticed that this deal was in the Fry's ad (ending today), so I swung by and checked it out. The sticker on the box says $30 upgrade/competitive upgrade, so I guess it's safe (since I'll be upgrading my 2004 version) so I picked one up to have on hand.

ANYONE AND EVERYONE - IF YOU DON'T HAVE NORTON UTILITIES GET IT NOW. Sorry GAM, but that deserved being shouted.

Just to mention, Symantec/Norton has been incredibly fast on redeeming their rebates. I think I've been getting the checks in about 2 weeks after I mail in the rebate form. :thumb:
