well, sorta... so i finally broke down and bought a liter bike.
the good thing is its an '04 Kaw ZX10R with about 200 miles on it... the bad thing, is the previous owner didnt have any business on a liter bike... Insurance auction is the best.
$2750 bones for this baby... gonnn stunt it (off the street) till i can afford another frame in better condition, then swap it over and finish wrapping it with plastic and get it out on the street.

what you can't see is the big punch in the upper left of the frame, as well as how badly the gas tank is smashed in like a coke can....
just got it back from my welder ( he hand fabricates custom cruisers just like jessy james does - just as good as far as i'm concerned)... he replaced the side of the tank with a clean piece and touched up a few spots in the frame.

It looks like a nice bike! Did the previous owner wreck it?

Nice find. My friend once bought a bike from an insurance company. The frame was perfect just all the plastic was torn to hell. and most of the hard plastic cracked on the bik too. The previuos owned laid it down on one side, then laid it back on the other, and then finally back on the other side. I want to say it was an 02 honda cbr 600.

around here about 10k... i think i can get it fixed up for a total of 6k or so, and when its time to resell in a year or two, then i hope to get 6k back out of it. IF i get rid of it faster, then maybe even 7k. Who knows.
Right now though its a stunter... no plastics, nothing - trailer it out to teh stunt spot and have some fun...
Took it out sunday... lift it up about 3' in 1st, and the click shift (no clutch, shortshifting at low rpms) all the way through 4th just floating the front end... this thing is a monster.
I'm keeping the R6 for street use right now... if i get the 10 out on the street, i'll probably kill myself.

a bid on one where? ebay?... if so its a scam. the dealers dont get the bikes that cheap...
BTW, ever ridden a street bike much... even if you're BADASS on a dirtbike, its completely different. Not dogging you or anything because its cool you're into dirtbikes, just warning you.
I've had several buddies that were really awesome dirt riders, and got on a big bike (just 600's ) and could hardly ride... but after about 3 or 4 weeks they picked it up quick... obviously, the shifting, clutching, balance, etc is a hugh benifit, but its still a completely different machine with a learning curve.
I really wish i could talk you into an R6 or something as a first street bike... its always fun to be the guy on a 600 blowing past the liter bikes (after you learn how of course)... it earns you a LOT more respect and recognition in the riding community if you're good enough to hang with or stay in front of the liter bikes on a 600.
I know, because i do :)

lol! its a local deal in Chicago.
i've seen the bike already. we already bought a Suzuki ds80 from the same dealer, but this deal is for cash only!
oh yeah, i get on those ysr80 (its a ysr50 made with the yamaha 80cc engine in it W?Cooled.) those things fly i am going to enter into a couple of races this summer/fall near Cedar Lake, and Lake Village, IN. so i pretty much do everything on bikes...
edit: i made a huge mistake its the 2004 yzf-R1 my dad pointed that out it has the dual mufflers like the one at yamaha.com (http://www.yamaha-motor.com/products/unitinfo/2/mcy/5/6/1/yamaha_yzf-r1.aspx)
except the one we're getting has a single muffler made by fmf

looks like a couple bogus adds on that page...
Race bikes will sell real cheap, for a reason... they've been rode hard and put away hot....
that '04 R1 is a good deal... i'm telling you though, its got a crazy amount of power compared to any bike you're on now...
its good that you're doing some road racing on the YSR though - you'll transition fast to a big bike... just watch out for that power and dont let it go to your head.

thanks i'll keep that in mind, i'm not the stupid type who wipes out the first time, i was always careful from the begining, the first time i got on that brand new yz80... man i shot off like a rocket! I will certainly grip tight and not let my expireance make my head thick, all my friends think i'm too cawsious, but in the end i don't want to end up paralyzed... so thanks for keeping me honest!
