quick link (http://www.widewordofsports.com/Menus/Contests.htm) to enter contest (scroll down for details):
My friend Scott is running a contest in order to promote his website. It's called the Wide Word of Sports, and it's about - you guessed it - sports (for the most part, anyway). They bill themselves as "an insightful and humorous online sports magazine", and I'd say that's a fairly accurate representation. Not being a huge sports fan, I don't read it that much, except for the few articles that are either about poker or involve me (mostly poker articles). The few sports articles that I have read can basically be summed up as follows: "I'm a Mets fan. Why do the Mets suck?" or: "I'm a Jets fan. Why do the Jets suck?" or: "I'm an Islanders fan. How come the Islanders don't suck this season?" (yes, the main writing "team" is based in NY, in case you couldn't figure it out). Anyway, you just need to sign up for their monthly newsletter, and then you get a chance to win the following X-Box games:
Halo 2
Halo
Mafia
Ghost Recon
Ghost Recon: Island Thunder
Rallisport Challenge
Baldur's Gate - Dark Alliance II
Star Wars - Clone Wars / Tetris
NCAA Football 2004 (C Palmer)
NHL 2K3
Madden 2002 (Culpepper)
ESPN Basketball 2K4
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003
These games are all used (they're Scott's games that he doesn't play anymore), and come in various states of completeness (manuals, etc.). Full details can be found on the contest page (http://www.widewordofsports.com/Menus/Contests.htm).
While you're there, check out my three favorite articles:
Poker, Billiards and Spelling are NOT Sports! (http://www.widewordofsports.com/Articles/Scott-2004/Articles-317.htm)
It's Still Not a Sport, But I'm Writing About Poker (http://www.widewordofsports.com/Articles/Scott-2004/Articles-329.htm)
Poker - Maybe It's a Sport (http://www.widewordofsports.com/Articles/Scott-2004/Articles-391.htm)
