These look so sweet. $19K isn't that bad for a car that fast and light. I imagine that it is somewhat less safe in a crash though.

No federal crash test ratings. That makes me itch.

There is full blown version, which costs about $30K with a 210hp VTEC engine from the Integra TypeR.

dude, that's awesome. one of my dreams is to enter the gumball 3000 with an old school mini. the 210hp vtec one would be great for this!

They had a review of the full blown car in Car and Driver not too long ago. Definitely would be a fun ride.

I dunt know if u can keep up with the gumball with such small displacement...Ive seen the videos looks like u need at least 300+ whp. These guyz are in SL600 and ferrari's. Not to diss the car...But there going about 180+mph, a B18c5 or c1 cant do that.

Bires, you're looking at the 2005 Mini. The link I posted is for ol' school minis. Granted, there are probably no crash ratings for the ol' school ones either, but that is why you can have a full cage installed so when you wreck your pit crew (read: Highway patrol, firefighters, or AAA) can get you our safe and sound.

And the 1962 Morris Minor 1000 would be the pimpity pimp of all rides to add a VTEC engine to. I love the look of the car and with some power in there I would be all over it. Anyone know if they ever made the Morris Minor 1000 in a left-hand-drive version? I wouldn't want to roll like the mailman in the US.

/starts putting pennies in a jar to save up.

the gumball isn't necessarily about being first. in the last one, you had a pair of guys driving a london taxi, and that's not fast by any means. :) it's just about having fun and having some creativity.

I guess thats the part they dont show u on the videos...too bad. I think its funny how they mix n match companies. Must be a lot of custom work.

They are one of the best designed cars as far as crashing goes.

There was a story of a guy who hit a tree head on going 65mph and the tree fell on the car. He walked away from it just sore.
