just out of curiousity, is there an easy way to get my mp3's onto my Xbox? (it's not modded, so it won't read burned CDs).

TIA

no.

you would have to burn the mp3s onto a CD, then have the Xbox rip the CD. reason being is that the Xbox only reads WMA format.

edit: reading your post a little more carefully, you'd have to burn your mp3s onto a CD as a music CD. then the XBox reads the music CD and creates a soundtrack. then from the MS Xbox dashboard, you can play your music (which is in WMA format). also, for some supported games, they can be used as a custom soundtrack to your games (like all the ESPN sports series).

Unless you mod your xbox, then you can put Media Center on it and stream MP3s and movies through your networked computer on it. Plus other things.

Like DFU said, stock Xboxes CAN read burned CD's, if they're audio CD's and not data (MP3) CD's.

I don't know about the newer xbox's but the old ones couldn't read any CDRs. You had to burn everything on CDRWs or DVDRs

Oh really? Mine (bought summer 2003) can read CD-Rs fine... but yeah dunno about the original (2001 and 2002) ones. I think Roni's is newer anyway, so CD-Rs should be okay for his.

i've tried burning as an audio CD format...but it's not reading, could it be the CD-Rs i'm using?

Really matters on your drive. There are three, Samsung, Phillips, & Thompson. You can tell you have a samsung if there are two holes along with the big hole in the tray when you open it. If you have this drive you=lucky as hell since those pretty much play anything. =O

My 2 cents:

Microsoft Kereoke music program (the one with the MIC) comes software to send MP3s and pictures directly from your computer to your xbox through a network cable. It is a crappy program that is difficult to use, but it works.
