Any watchers? Who do you have your money on?
I'm gonna guess Rob/Amber, Ron/Kelly, or Uchenna/Joyce. They look like pretty fit couples.

Ron was a soldier in Iraq...big advantage. But his girfriend is a beauty queen...big disadvantage.

I'm watching as we speak...and the only thing that comes to mind is why is rob and amber doing this?
I can only assume requirement from winning survivor all stars. There's no way they would do it voluntarily.

I think it's the new "crossover" phenomonon where stars from other reality shows are showing up in other reality shows.

I hope the gay guys win it-they are always the most fun on this show..i think it stinks that Rob and Amber are on the show-they had their 15plus minutes of fame-they should have given the spot to two other "regular" people. I would LOVE to go on Amazing Race. Maybe someday I'll send in an application.

They won't win. All the other teams are gunning for them. They'll get held up at every single yield...

i think they are doing it voluntarily. i am sure Rob thinks he can win it.
i also heard them say just after their post-Survivor engagement that when they get married they are going to make it into a TV show (where they get paid) also. they were soliciting for offers right then.

Oh god...talk about a boring TV show...like I really care to watch that. I didn't even watch when that retard Jessica Simpson married Nick.
Ok, so I've determined from the first show, Ron and Kelly aren't as tough as I thought. I don't think the gay guys are going to last very long...but it is hilarious to watch them!

So this is the 2 hour episode and what I'm finding pretty amazing is how many people IN AFRICA recognize Rob and Amber. It's pretty amazing. I didn't think survivor went beyond our borders much less Africa.
I'm actually rooting for Rob and Amber. The others hate them so much so it's kinda funny that way. That and the help they're getting is also funny.
Poor old folks :(
This season is much more bearable than season 6. There hasn't been much silly whining and yelling.

This was the first time I've ever watched The Amazing Race, and I have to say that this is one reality TV show I actually like. :)
Can't really say who I'd like to win yet, although I do have to say that I DON'T like Rob & Amber at all -- that is, if Rob & Amber were the ones that passed the other team who's truck had flipped over. I don't care if it's a competition -- when there is a potential for serious injury, you don't just keep going as if nothing is wrong. All the other teams who saw what happened at least made sure everyone was OK -- Rob & Amber just went on by.
(I'll admit I'm still learning names, so if it wasn't Rob & Amber that did this, please correct me).

It was them.
I'm not too sure what I would have done. I think Rob and Amber zoomed by because they might be used to the whole reality tv show and assumed that either no one could get hurt or a lot of help would be nearby and they couldn't do anything.

One thing I really liked was how some of the other teams did whatever they could to help Meredith and Gretchen after they lost everything (apparently from what my friends said, that was a first for TAR).
Once again, I fully understand this is a competition, but it's still nice to see when other teams are willing to help the underdogs out once in a while. :)

awww c'mon the gay guys are funny. i love how they can't stand Rob and Amber. it added to it that they dissed R & A and said there was no room on their bus when there was and wouldn't let them on last night. so Rob says he's not going to be "Mr. NiceGuy" anymore after that. which was funny in itself. :P
the ending was great last night with the brothers out running "mr. competitive" and his gf to get to the finish. i'm glad the brothers stayed in. they worked it hard after getting in that accident to actually have a chance.

Oh, please, do you actually think they would have stopped if there was no one there helping? HELL NO! I agree it is a competition but come on a little common decency would be nice. Well, bad karma for them. I have been hearing little titters and i think Uchenna and Joyce win. Remember this show is taped and already done. And leave the cute little gay boys alone. If Meredith and Gretchen dont get the boot next week I am going to be freaking annoyed. My wife and I could not decide which team we wanted to get evicted more today.....the "Oh my goodness" lady (Gretchen) or the coniving gay duo. The only benefit with Lynn and Alex being gone before Gretchen and Meredith is that it leaves a weaker team which is a non-issue. Each week they have been squeaking by due to other people's errors.
Hell, the lady climbed into the elephant, weighing it down more and not helping to push. Somebody really needs to hit her upside the head (No, I am not advocating abuse here!) as she appears to be completely addled.

My favorite part of the entire thing was the previews for next week. A conversation between Kelly & Ron where she is talking to him about his "fear of committment". It went something like this:
Her: You don't do committment.
Him: Yeah, I don't do committment, yet I was in the military.
Her: Yes, but you got out of it.
Him: How?
Her: By being a POW
:heh: I laughed so hard my chest hurt. Like he WANTED to be a POW just so he could get out of the military?? omg! haha

While I agree that is was a big choice, I wonder how long her actual hair was. It seems to me that she had pretty long extensions. The bigger,I think, :wavey2: sacrafice was the cost of those extensions and the time spent getting them. But I am glad they are doing so well. Just FYI, I'm watching the first few episodes of TAR season 1 and it's a huge mess of a show. I'm glad they learned a few things since.
However, it looks like they tried to make it challenging by making the clues actual clues as opposed to this season and the last where they specifically said what to do.
EDIT: Hmm...I guess they've kept the whining throughout all the shows...

Well it is getting down to the nitty gritty. I saw a little blurb 'SPOILER" in the union Tribune that led me to believe that they do not win. It was discussing the $ they won on Survivor and The trips they won on AR. It might be wishful thinking on my part but the wording made it sound like they were done. They got married on April 19th and are off on Honeymoon.
Well the old couple are gone. They really did quite well, i think, when you consider their age. And what an adventure. Somethink to tell their greatgrand kids about. So it is down to three couples. Amber & the *ss, Uchenna & Joyce and Ron & Kelly. Next Tuesday is the 2 hour finale. $1 million to the winners!

i'm sick of Ron and Kellys stupid bickering back and forth. please for the love of gawd may they never get married. Kelly seems so high maintenance and so needy for attention.
Rob has turned Amber into a clone of himself. she thinks it's funny to screw people over and has taken on his devious personality.
Uchenna and Joyce showed their compassion once again by helping out the old couple even when they didn't have to. their kindness puts me in their corner for the win.

The Final leg of the "Amazing Race".... In-freakin'-credible...
Those "take your cash and all your possessions" last place punishments are killers... I don't see how they recover from that in begging. How do they afford the multiple plane tickets on such short notice? Obviously these racers know something that many "street beggars" have never figured out.
I was like shocked for the entire finale of the race... Well congrats to Uchenna and Joyce... they REALLY deserved the cash moreso than Rob and Amber. I wish them well in their attempt to finally have a baby.

it was a great finale, and you talk about great people, Uchenna and Joyce... they could've left that cabbie stranded without his money and ran to the finish line, but they begged and begged and paid him off first. Rob and Amber would've said, "eff it" and left the cabbie with an IOU.
i know i would have given U & J money if they'd asked me - without a doubt. the people that didn't have to feel like stingy bastards now.
i was so worried that Rob and Amber were going to pull it off - they kept getting breaks, as usual, but the good guys won. they don't always finish last.
and then for Uchenna to say the prize money was going to invitro fertilization or adoption - that is what i call a real prize - they are using it to start a family. it's money they were having trouble coming up with and probably exhausted their own resources of along their long path of infertility.
i so hope we get an update on how they do with that!

But I'm actually very happy with the ending. I'm one of the few people who like rob and amber, but I really didn't want them to win since they've literally sold their lives to TV (their televised wedding :puke:).
I didn't want Ron and Kelly win at all since they're really annoying and have serious issues.
Still, it was amazing to see Uchenna and Joyce win it after being last at the last pit stop and Rob and Amber where practically in a DIFFERENT COUNTRY before Uchenna and Joyce could start their first task. Insane. Smart move to go back to the airport to get money. I don't think I could have done that (begged for money) at all.
It was funny to see all the animosity with all the teams there when rob and amber crossed the finish line.
This season was tons better than my first last year where I could barely tell who was who (they all were the same whiny morons). This year had good character.

Yeah I know :) I didn't want to make the same mistake twice :) Btw you knew this thread was going to have spoilers, you didn't need to click on it.
I guess I liked how they did things a bit differently than others. Almost everyone was very complacent, just waiting for things to happen. Rob turned the game around a bunch. Yes, he lied a few times and played mind games, (and it bit them in the ass), but they played a good game, which is what this is. I don't like how they dehumanitized the game however...(i.e. didn't stop at the accident, etc.)
I hope others learn for TAR 9 and play the game AND have some humanity like Uchenna and Joyce did.

As I think I stated earlier, I basically started watching from about half-way (once they went to Africa) and have been hooked ever since. I 'm not being bitc*y but I am in California and the race has only been on for 1/2 an hour but there is no need to watch now. I know who wins. But I will watch any way just to see Rob & Amber lose. To be honest I was pretty sure Joyce & Uchenna won due to some articles I had read but I am sure there are other Apexers on the west coast who didn't have a clue and you both just told them.(DK & Nickel) But have a good night anyway. :wavey2:
[QUOTE=gear02]I didn't want to post anything until tomorrow since I think the pacific coast is still watching it and I got yelled at by a few riverwidow a few times :)
Come on it was only one time and I told you I forgave you. Tonight you were #3 so you are in the clear. And you are right. You are probably one of a very small group who actually liked Rob & Amber. But you have a good night too. :)
well actually........ i think you told us awhile back that Uchenna and Joyce were going to win from something you read.... so i had it in the back of my mind all this time that they were.
it's all good... they won!

Sorry bout that.. but honestly, you'd think that since this is an established thread... you would stay out of this thread tonight until the show ended. :D
Normally... we'd put the *** SPOILER ALERT *** up... but since it was an established thread... I didn't.
Hopefully it doesn't ruin too many folks viewing.... BTW... stop readin' G|A and watch the show!!! :heh:

It didn't bother me that I knew. I would have watched anyway. I was thinking more of some poor slub who came across it and had the show spoiled for them. But as Nickel said its all good. The good ,decent guys won and most all is right with the world for tonight in TV land. Now bring on Big Brother!

Those "take your cash and all your possessions" last place punishments are killers... I don't see how they recover from that in begging. How do they afford the multiple plane tickets on such short notice?
They do not pay for plane tickets out of the money they get at the start of the leg, those are covered by the show I would assume by a credit card. The money they get at the start of the leg is to cover local travel expenses (cabs, trains, etc.) and their food.

Yup. They have a credit card to pay for all plane tickets, which is why this season many teams have bought multiple tickets for the same leg in their attempt to find faster flights.

So then ,it really isn't as much of test as I originally thought. All they have to do is beg for small amounts. Of course, Rob and Amber would have left that cab driver high and dry. At least Joyce & uchenna took the moral high road and made sure he got paid. BUT< I would have hated to see them lose
because they were scrambling for loose change. Good season. Can't wait for the next one.

Yeah that surprised me when Uchenna said we can't run in because they had to make sure the cab driver was set. That's honor, my friends, especially knowing that you're two steps away from a lot of money.
Does anyone know whether IOUs where they get the guy's address and sends them money afterward the race is not allowed in the rules?

I tried to see if there was somewhere you could see the official rule book, but couldn't find it.

For some reason, I think your end quote tag is missing up there.

Cool...
One of my cow-orkers just pointed that out as well. Cause I was like "dayuum"... where did they get all that money to travel from? :heh:
Still.. it would suck to beg for transport money...

Honestly, with all the "cameras" around.. you would think that the cabbie would say.. "OK... but get back with me with the cash"
Uchenna even tried to give him his ring.... "I don't need no rings..." That cabbie was being a "hard @ss", but I do understand he was trying to make a living... but he coulda let them go if he wanted to.
I woulda been pissed of Rob and Ambuh woulda won because of that... just like the flat tire. Of all times to get a flat.... geez.
BTW... does anyone think that the end leg was "fixed". Last I checked... there was NO AIRLINE who would open the doors and let a passenger on a flight after they pulled the jetway back. I've missed flights like that before and they wouldn't let me on the plane....
Pretty much, if Uchenna and Joyce had not made that flight... the end would have been decided there. Therefore I suspect that the show had something to do with letting them on the plane so that "the race" could continue.
Also... I bet Rob and Ambuh are really kickin' themselves for not studying Spanish in high school now. :heh:

That's very true...I was stunned when that happened. I don't think it was fixed persay, but I think there was huge pressure on the fact that there were CAMERAS both inside the plane and outside. The pilot thought he do them a favor while on national tv...

I think they also have to buy tickets for the camera crew (is it one or two people).
I'm very interested in how they do the logistics of the camera and production crews. I've wondered if they literally have one guy run after them for the whole leg (and switchout between legs) and how they do those things. It's quite amazing (to me at least).

At times, when I quote something and it is really long I will delete part of it to use just the part I am commenting on. I might get the "quote box" and I might not. I don't know what I do differently to make it do that. I always leave the words quote but it doesn't always show. I am sure I am doing some little thing wrong. As you know I am techno challenged! :)

You need a [/quote] at the end of the quote in question. You're basically deleting some of his quote, but forgetting the tag at the end.

Heh... glad to see that you CAN teach...
Ummm... well let's not use that figure of speech in this particular example. :D
WOOF!!! :heh:
BTW.. in the previous quote, since gear02 had put a [/quote] mark in his text it prematurely closed the quote on you... Sometimes you just gotta go back and add it in manually (or change the [] to {} or <> ) :D
