I dunno, they both look very plain to me. I don't think I'd look twice at it if I saw one on the road.

I like the current one but it does not have enough room or ummpff to justify a $30k+ price tag. I like the new one and it looks roomier and hopefully more powerful. I am looking forward to seeing the specs and price tag. :)

I test drove a 05 IS300 and liked it.
If you drive a Toyota and then a Lexus you will see how much more refined the Lexus is...
They are not releasing any engine information till end of March they said.

Ganked from:

In the U.S., the IS will use a breathed upon version of the new Avalon's 3.5-liter V-6 and thus wear an IS350 badge. Exact horsepower figures have yet to be confirmed, but we expect slightly more than the Avalon's 280.

Yea the IS 250 is supposed to be affordable/sporty, and the IS 350 is going to be the one with balls to compete with the G35, TL.
I like the new style, the old one looks to soft. this one is aggresive.

This will just blend in with all of the other toyotas and hondas in the bay area. I like the 2006 3 series better.
It looks like a 4 door Scion TC from the front:

To all those who say it looks like xxxx car...
If you follow the designs of cars when they come out most of them follow the same basic design because that is what the market data says people are interested in.
And to those who are saying that its 'just a toyota'...
How about drive around in a camry then drive around in this car. Then come back and tell us how you still think its 'just a toyota.'

I think I like the current IS300 model better (it looks faster...), but it usually takes me a little while to get used to new models... I guess I have no imagination to envision the car in action. This one looks too boxy and too big in the back... but I'll save full judgement until when I see one on the road.

Yea i think when u see pictures and when ur close enought to touch it, its always different. sometimes better sometimes worse. Like the new 7 series, in pictures, it was wierd. Up close, its amazing....As Smokeydp sed, All car companies are "inspired" by each other, so its common for different car companies to follow the same design cues to sell cars.

kinda weird that they are making 2 versions that are weaker than current, and only 1 stronger

That's a bad thing, IMHO. So far, DC is the only company that is really out there with the styling - the 300, Viper, Prowler, PT Cruiser, Pacifica - some are butt ugly, but at least they're breaking out of the typical car mold.
GM, Honda & Toyota are too scared to deviate too far from one model year to the next. Every car ends up looking the same, and it's all boring. Ford tries to keep up by copying DC - gee, the Ford 500 remind you of anything? Oh, hey, the PT Cruiser introduced that retro look - let's bring back the T-bird! Maybe we'll bring back the retro look in the Mustang, too!
I'll give Nissan props for cracking the mold - the Murano & Optima have great design. I would drive either of those in a second. VW/Audi, too - reliability isn't there, but they have style, which is what keeps selling those cars. I wouldn't buy one, but I'd consider a short term lease of a Tourag or an S4.
The Camry, Accord and Taurus are three of the most boring cars on the road, design wise. I leased a Taurus for a couple of years, and I felt like I was 60 years old driving that stupid thing. I actually preferred my $10k Saturn to that dusty plain vanilla design. Buick/Caddy/Chevy/Pontiac - all clones with a (very) few exceptions.

They are saying the IS250 will have atleast a 3.5L 280HP engine. The IS300 has about a 240HP 2.5L... What I am I missing? :spock:

The IS350 has the V6 3.5L engine with at least 280hp not the IS250. The European versions are the IS250 with a smaller V6 engine with 190 or so hp and the IS220 diesel with 17x hp but almost 300 lb-ft of torque.

Oh I was reading that wrong. Well with the IS250 has 190hp then count me out. I doubt they would downgrade the HP with all the new engine technology out there.... :spock:

exactly what u said bro. I hate how cars just gel into the same mold of design, and I'm totally with you on DC & nissan. those are my two favorite car manufacturers simply because they're willing to do something different with their design. and yes, i'm going to keep on saying this car looks like something because i think those are things that need to be pointed out. when a manufacturer is ripping off a different design, they should be called on it.

I'm not so down on the new Nissan Maxima look... I dunno I liked the last body style.
On the flip side the Altima's look much better

Okay weve established that companies should not be ripping each other off and getting away with it (dont get me started on korean companies). But also Lexus has come out with the new GS Sedan, ive seen this one in person and its a little more low key in design, but very nice..
