View Full Version : Teen jumps off parking garage for thrills, misses other side, falls, sues
http://www.local6.com/money/4239256/detail.html
Teenagers in Orlando, Fla., are leaping between 80-foot high public parking garages in a new trend called "garage jumping," according to a Local 6 News investigation.
Tim Bargfrede told Local 6 News that he was following friends when he attempted to garage jump and did not make it to the other side. Bargfrede fell six stories and was knocked unconscious on impact.
"I just didn't make it," Bargfrede said.
D'Assaro is filing a lawsuit against the city of Orlando and the private garage owner for making little effort to correct a potential deadly risk.
"There was a very, very short length of fence that was completely ineffective in preventing this from happening," D'Assaro said.
Since Bargfrede fell, the City of Orlando erected a partial fence but there's still room for someone to take a dangerous dive.
The family says that's not good enough and that both garages need to take responsibility before a garage jumper loses his life.
Wow. I can't say that I'm surprised though.

Ouch. I think the solution is that we tear down all buildings built higher then 10' high so people can't jump off them. We really need to be taking advantage of all of the underground property we have, just look at the guy we are trying to find in afganistan. :fal: :johnwoo2: The last thing I read was that he is living in a cave, and that Sadaam guy is living in bunkers. Much smarter then us stupid americans.

Boy, I hope those garage owners take responsibility to prevent this from happening in the future! It's not these kid's fault! They don't know not to jump off of tall buildings! Where were the warning signs?
As a precaution, I've erected a six foot high fence around the perimeter of my roof to prevent such a tragedy from occuring at my house. I suggest everyone else do the same.

No way are they paying money to the family for his idiocy. Watch when one garage puts up a fence and the other doesn't. You'll get people suing to tear it down because they keep bouncing off the fence like birds off a glass window falling to their deaths.

so let me get this straight. What if i wanted to jump from one side of the mall walk way to the other. Its only the 2nd story but potentially a light threatening injury. Can i sue every mall until they errect 12 foot fences taht i can then scale and jump from? Thats a career right there..
