that's the thing dude. sure, i've made a TON of money for my company this year but i'm not really a hard worker. just look at my post count. :heh:
at the beginning of this year i asked God to bless my work, to make the deals, activities, etc. i engage in fruitful. and my wife and i are committed to giving to our church, missions, and charities and volunteering and honestly believe that i've been financially blessed because of it. i'm sure people will think it's nonsense but that's mho.

dude i'm trying. i looked at my life last year and realized that i have contributed virtually nothing to this planet other than maybe my tithe, missions, and some volunteer activity. i am incredibly wasteful and if i'm going to make a real difference, i have to be responsible with what i've been given. that's why i want to really tighten the screws on my spending and keep track of where my money goes and not just drift spending every dime that i get on myself. canta's comments in one of other the other threads about what Jesus said on the "sermon on the mount" really struck home. i, like many other christians, have not concentrated on what i theoretically say is important in life.
but that doesn't mean i'm selling my expensive bikes. lol.

Yeah, I think it's a standard to withhold bonuses at 27%. They do the same thing around here. But the nice thing is that my work pays bonus at the end of December, so you can get the excess withholdings back in a couple of months.
but that doesn't mean i'm selling my expensive bikes. lol.
Of course not! The Bible says, "GIVE, and it shall be given unto you....". "It is more blessed to GIVE than to receive." I'm sure you'd find plenty of TAKERS around here! :heh:

Woo hoo! I got a promotion too!
I am now officially in charge of IT in all of our international as well as US locations. Several office in Europe, as well as India & Japan are now my responsibility, in addition to the office here in the states.
This is great - this will move me into a director position, since I now have managers reporting to me.
Of course, my job title doesn't change. I don't get a raise. No bonus in sight. Hang on a second... :|
Stupid economy.

I know it doesn't make up for not getting a bump in the pay but it sounds like you might get some good international travel out of it. Afterall, you need to check out the operation in Japan in order to properly manage it. ;)

You could just decline, and say "Sounds great, but I don't want the job unless I get a pay increase and a title change."
Why do more work for the same pay?

Hahaha! Didn't you read the Dilbert?
Actually it's not bad. Even if the only thing I get out of it is experience, that's all I need to land a job at a higher level than I'm in. I actually won't find out if I get a raise until June or July, since all of the increases are done at the same time company wide.

SO no international travel?
Yeah, the travel is there anyway. I'm in Paris at least once a year, and then Sweden, Montreal & UK on occasion. Haven't been to India or Germany yet, but that's only a matter of time. I think I can avoid Japan - they're pretty independent. Why the hell don't we have an office in New Zealand?
The travel part isn't bad as long as it's only a few trips per year.
