View Full Version : Cost of Living: Job in Santa Anna $18/h

So I was offered an internship in Santa Anna @ landconcern.com for 12 weeks @ 18 dollars an hour.

I am a midwest boy, and the most I have ever been paid is 8-12 dollars an hour for similar work. Currently, I have never have to pay more than 400 a month for living AFTER Utilities.

So I ask! Any advice on this opportunity... I do have others, but Santa Anna could have some great projects, set me up for something better. Does the pay balance out with Cost of Living. I am not to excited to drive 2 hours to work daily.

OR would anyone be interested in offering me a room or house in the region. I am a nice 23 year old guy, no drugs, minimal alcohol... the only problems I have is falling for the wrong girl HAAH... I am happy to live with any decent people and would pay a reasonable rent, and follow any rules / do any reasonable chores.

If you rents a one-room apartment or a studio, don't expect to pay less than $800 here. Too bad my co-worker already found a person who rented a room in his house. I don't think he charges more than $500.

Bachviet is right on it. $800 would be bargain, plus utilities. do the at $18 an hour, 40 hours per week, for 12 weeks, that's $8,640 you'll make before taxes. take away about 25% for taxes (total guess, but bear with me) and you have about $6,480 after tax dollars to play with. sure, you could get an apartment for about $1000 a month and still come away with about $2500 or so for yourself. not a bad prospect if you're looking to move to the area and the intership is something you are interested in doing.

check out www.westsiderentals.com. they have rentals for all over LA and it costs you $60 for 60 days of access to their database. you can do a guest search and see that there is a ton of stuff in OC for rent with decent prices to share a room. you could even find a room for rent for aroun $500.

you really need to consider getting a roomie, or 3 it's pricey there! and if you're looking around UCI... you're not gonna find anything that cheap. apts around there are not really made for a student budget (1700 for a 2 bedroom). I would suggest costa mesa or santa ana. will you have a car? check craigslist, they have some rental and roomie listings. also, perhaps you can call up UCI housing? maybe they allow non-students during the summer? May - Aug is gonna be tough, cuz students are still in school (and thus living in their apt) up until June.

anyway, good luck!!

hard to avoid them when they do own everything. there's only one complex that i know of in irvine which isn't owned by them.

btw... after trying to find housing in west LA, i've discovered that irvine pricing ain't half bad! if you find a place up here that's about the same quality of an irvine property, you're gonna be paying a few hundred more.

but yeah, live in the cities right outside irvine... much cheaper

i second that. speaking from personal experience as well.
however, if you are looking for inexpensive housing in orange county, i'd suggest north county. santa ana is relatively inexpensive compared other areas, and a great deal of the apartments in that city and its surrounding are not owned by the irvine company. downtown santa ana isn't as nice, but you will be able to find less expensive housing there.

Definatley Pumped about the location... Seems to be right on the 405. I am a baseball fan, was thinking about buying a handful of tickets to LAA and LAD games. Any suggestions on seats, maybe just wait till I get there?

15min to The LA Angels, and 45 min to Dodgers Stadium... YIP YIP... I guess add 1-2 hours for traffic? I dont know, just a guess. San Diego is only an hour away too.

Hopefully there will be some of the gang to give me a welcome parade ;)

During traffic hour, it probably takes you 45 minutes to an hour to get to Edison Field, aka Anaheim Stadium. You have to take the 405N to 55N to 5N to 57N.

There are 2 requirements, female and kinky sex. You only metioned the sex change, so I assume the love of kinky sex is already in place.
