I think this is great, beats ING, Virtual and Metlifebanks by a whopping .65%. I opened an account about 5 weeks ago for 3% and today I got this email, "WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT AS OF MONDAY, MARCH 14, 2005, YOU WILL EARN 3.25% APY ON YOUR AMERICAN DREAM SAVINGS ACCOUNT WITH EMIGRANTDIRECT.COM AND THAT THIS NEW INCREASED RATE IS GUARANTEED THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2005." Their site hasn't been upgraded yet, still shows 3%. http://www.emigrant-direct.com/

there's a thread on them over at fatwallet. There are a lot more people using ING at the moment, but Emigrant direct seems to be picking up steam by keeping their interest rates higher by about a half a percent. I'd guess since Emigrant just raised theirs, ING will probably follow in a week or two.

Western Financial bank, I don't know anything about them yet, but I thought it belonged in this thread http://www.wfb.com/promos/mm2005.htmI just looked into Western Finantial and I noticed this important difference between them and Emigrant. Western Finantial, in order to get 3.25% needs a minimium of $5000 and Emigrant needs no minimium to get 3.25%.

ING reraised its APY to 2.6% from 2.35% when Emigrant came out with 3.00%. but now Emigrant's new rate is 3.25%.
ING has edge over with its customer service and more polished website. not to mention, you can earn some bonus cash by referring customers. but .6% higher APY by Emigrant is definitely tempting if you like to keep a large amount of cash in savings/checking.
IMHO, if you keep more than $10,000 in savings account, go with Emigrant. but w smaller amount, go with ING.

I've got ING direct right now and it's very simple. Has anyone used Emigrant? I don't like learning new systems but for 3.25% I think it's worth it.

if you have more then 10,000 USD I'd hope you have something other then interest in the USD. Might I suggest commodites for better counter weight for inflation.

Just as ducksoup98 said, "ING has edge over with its customer service and more polished website". After I got the kinks out by calling customer service (Ing has better customer service) the rest is as simple as Ing. So far, I have had them over a month and about 6 transactions, very simple.
