Does anyone have one of the new Alpine head unit's with the iPod adaptor? I need to get a stereo for my car and the ability to use my iPod instead of burning cd's is a big plus for me but I'm weary about how well it will work.k

The alpine's main benefit is that it will post the text on the headunit so you don't have to read it off of the ipod. If you don't need that, most Eclipse units have audio auxiliary ports (just plugin a 3.5in headphone adapter) on the back. Also ive seen many namebrand headunits these days supply an audio-in plug on the receiver face itself. Does the same thing and you get one of these tunedoks (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000ULJWS/ref=pd_sbs_e_1/102-9142383-6816112?v=glance&s=electronics) and you are all set.

The Alpine will also charge the unit. A friend of mine got this set-up and just loves it.

my jensen has the aux port on the face plate, but it doesn't display names or tracks

I was thinking about that option but I drive a VW and I want to keep the blue/red color scheme. The Alpine looks like the closest match but not exact.

Do a search on the vwvortex.com forums. I saw this discussed a couple days ago.
