Has anyone tried this? I'm wondering what the quality of the movie is.

I've avoided it, since you have to download their proprietary player, and you have to view the movie within 24 hours or something like that. It's not like you get to keep the movie.

There is a program for the mac where you can rip the quicktime music video from itune. Perhaps I can use it to rip these movies?

Quality is pretty decent. It comes to a 500 meg file, good enough for so those movies that you've been wanting to see but just haven't gotten to.

I am a big fan of movielink.
You can also try these codes... I am not sure when they expire:
REDCARPET99 Get a movie for 99c (Good for existing and new customers)
REDCARPET50 Get a movie for 50% off (Good for existing and new customers)
You enter them at checkout. No special link required.
BTW- You can actually view the movies in windows media player. They are simply .wmv files that you can find in a hidden "content" directory in the movielink install area. They do have DRM though, so once you view it, it becomes unviewable after 24 hours.

Can you convert it to avi(divx) with programs like tmpgenc or virtualdub before the 24 hours of DRM is up?

No, those programs would not be able to read the file.
Also, be careful about using analog methods of capturing the movies.... I have seen watermarks and strange characters flash by on the lower right hand corner of the screen. I imagine that they are are source codes linked to your account... That would be a problem if it were ever shared...
Just enjoy the movie and move on with life. :)
