I was part of a focus group recently that involved being asked questions about beer, and then doing some taste tests. The beer that was the focus was Budweiser Select, which apparently is Bud's low-carb beer. I'll be gracious by saying it didn't taste so great. But it was semi refreshing. We also got to drink it with another beer, which I bet was Miller. All in all, I was there for about an hour, and I got 85 bucks.
 Easiest money I ever made.

I used to run the liquor department for a Vons store and we used to get to go to all kinds of tastings. While we didn't get paid for it, we didn't have to pay either. Mostly wine tastings. The big ones would be at a hotel ballroom with perhaps a hundred tables around a room and maybe a dozen wines at each table and a pile of food to snack on in the middle. You are not supposed to swallow, but the tastebuds do go numb and you get pretty buzzed after a while anyways. We would also sponsor wine tasting dinners at fancy resturaunts with menus specially designed around the wines and a different wine (or two) with each course. Often either the actual wine maker or a representative would be there to discuss it. The store would get two free slots so I usually got one. Patrons paid like $90 a piece to go. We used to be able to get all kinds of free stuff. Vendors would give me free bottles of wine to try. Tickets to events (I usually gave those to my manager). Then the ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control) put a stop to the companies being able to give us the freebies and the stores got concerned about someone getting in an accident or something on the way home so everything came to an end. It was great back then.
LoCarb Bud does not sound very good. I don't even like regular Bud. I prefer good beers. Newcastle is probably my favorite.
