Anyone else going to give this a try anytime soon? I tried it in beta and it was FAST, but driver support was lacking. Now that it went gold how long do you think before we start to see drivers showing up?
My ASUS TV Tuner and Turtle Beach Motego sound card and two items they didn't have drivers for at the time. Everything else worked.

at least another 6 months, im not sure when longhorn is suppost to come out, sometime in 2k6. i imagine there will be more 64bit software towards the end of the year. im gonna wait to upgrade till then.

We're running it on several machines @ work. It's fast all right, but yes, poor driver support so far, and no virus scanner available yet.
I'd give it a while before it's mainstream.

Do you think MS is waiting on Intel?

No, MS is ready - the OS is golden. The only thing holding things up are the HW & SW suppliers. Not a lot of apps/drivers being written yet.

Windows XP 64 bit is not designed to work with Intel's 64 bit CPU, IIRC.

Sure it is - runs on both the Intel Itanium & the Intel EM64T. We're running it on both Intel & AMD processors, but will probably standardize on Intel.
