The GA Pics thread reminded me we should do a Florida meet. I know Faither and ialso are in FL. Darth is in FL (although he's hard to get ahold of). Maybe Canta can get back here.

Thoughts? Anybody else in FL?

Having been to North Carolina to visit family many times, I can say that BI and our Carolina crew are just a quick 14 hour drive away. ;)

I'd probably be up for it, but I've got to work on Saturdays until summer gets here, so picking a date might get a bit tough. We should do it at a time when another Apexer is taking a business trip down here. There's ALWAYS business conferences going on in Orlando...someone must be coming soon.

My vote would be to put it in Orlando. Faither's only an hour away, LK's already there, and it's 2 1/2 hours for me, but I went to school up there, so I still have friends I can stay with.

If it isn't around a major holiday I can set peeps up in one of our resorts. ~$30/night, maybe ~50/night for a 4 bedroom.

The further down the link the better resort. The last one is actually on disney property (the only non-disney resort to be located on disney). The further down the harder it is to get in, Bonnet is almost impossible since it isn't even done yet. The employee discount I get is rediculous, I stayed in our Vegas resort for $200 for 5 nights during CES when all of the hotels were booking at $250-500/night.

That was a 1 bedroom, larger rooms cost more, but not much.

The vegas resort was a 1 bedroom. Had a fully stocked kitchen (no food), 2 TV's, massive jacuzzi tub, nice tiled floors, pretty pimpin place. A 1-bedroom has a fold-out couch also.

Next year I am thinking of getting the presidential 4-br suite for CES and asking anybody who wants to come to crash. For 80/night it's well worth it.

Ocala is damn nice, just played a round of golf up there last friday. If you can't do anything but a quick appearance we will make it quite fun

I grew up in Daytona, but now I often visit the Tampa area (Brandon) because my company has a house there that I can use for $70 a week. My family will be there the first week of Christmas break this year.

June 7th-14th- out, visiting Vermont
June 17th-18th- out, track meet

I just had someone from Ormond call me up and ask me if I was interested in a job there. But from what I know of Ormond, it's a little too....there's really no right way to put this. It's too whitebread for me. :)

Oh, it's much worse than you remember. :) The housing market has exploded (tripled in prices) so it's much much more whitebread than you can imagine. The fishing is still great though. Oh, and the surf is still excellent.

Whoops, missed checking back on this thread. I grew up just below Hartford Ave. We lived on Auburn Drive (beachside, of course). I graduated from Seabreeze in 1969.
