Leaked AMD dual-core pricing details
Details of pricing for AMD dual-core Opterons seems to have been leaked. Seemingly, the low-end Opteron 865 chip will cost $1,514 USD, dual-core Opteron 870 $2,149, and the Opteron 875 will be priced at $2,649. Not due for release until Thursday, dual-core solutions from AMD are hotly awaited. The prices quoted should, however, only be regarded as a guideline, since OEMs will decide on final pricing for their AMD systems. AMD is expected to announce several industry partnerships on Thursday, where system builders will use the chips in their new machines.
By including two processing units into a single design, dual-core chips will bring improved performance when running multiple applications - even though speeds will initially be lower than current single core offerings.

Eggs and steaks are good for me. :P
BTW I can't even afford a $1500 computer so $1500 CPU is out of the question.

I have a question for those of you looking for a consumer edition. What do you do with your computer?

I play 3 instances of doom3, each running on seperate ram drives, using seperate operating systems, also I enjoy editing 1080i high-def dvd's in real-time. Oh yeah, and when I get around to it, I solve massively parallel algorithms.
lol, consumer edition, LOL
I find it hard to believe that many, if any... people on this site could actually stress one of these systems with their day-to-day processes.

Basically it says it used Windows powered by AMD chips to make the movie Sin City instead of Apple and Macs.

Dual core chips will only be benificial if you are running multiple CPU processes at the same time.
