hmm, title is a bit misleading.. didn't win a camera but my winning ebay bid was for a UV filter for my new lens that i bought...for my new dSLR. i put in the bid last week and completely forgot about it. now i'm an owner of a sweet new Hoya Pro 1 UV filter! awwwesome...!

oh, and as i mentioned, i purchased a brand new canon rebel xt (350d) about a month ago. it's sweeeeeeet!! for any one of you thinking about taking photography seriously, you need to get a dslr. i don't know how i lived without one. if you get one, go with canon, says this canon whore. ;)

here are some samples:

i got it when it first came out...body only for $899. if you wait for a good dell deal, you can get one (body only) for ~750. one drawback to a dslr is the cost of lenses. man, the body is just the tip of the iceberg. proportionally, i would say body is 30%, lens is 70% in terms of overall pic quality.

but no complaints here. i love my camera + lenses... i love taking photos...

you can read about my camera here (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos350d/).

This is why you buy a dSLR of the same type as your SLR. You dont have to buy lenses then. My issue is do I go with Pentax, Nikon, Canon or Minolta. I personally own Pentax and Minolta lenses. I have access to the other two as they are the other cameras that my immediate family owns, thus the lenses are floating around.

Edit - Yep, it seems that I was damn eloquent right there.

Amazing pictures! I am glad that there are photographers are out there, who know how to use a camera.
