porn didn't exist when the rules (i presume you are interested in the christian rules) got written. so it's all interpretation.
but zb is right... enjoying any form of non-reproductive sexual stimulation can easily be proven to be sinful with a few bible quotes.

My christian friend wont watch the Shield because he says there is too much sexual tension...and that it gets him distracted...err...i think he should just learn to watch the show for what it is..and as for porn...well if he watched porn..well he wouldnt get distracted by "sexual tension" on TV shows.

*sigh* yeah. if you're one of those people who is quite sure that jesus wants you to be ashamed of sexual arousal, then the answer is clear.

No, but touching yourself while typing one handed is. So I guess that means that it depends on what you are doing while watching the porn that creates the issues. :hihi:

During quasi-sex-ed class in highschool my teacher brought up the question: "Is masturbation a sin?"
One of the very conservative Christian boys said that the Bible states somewhere that if you think of doing something sinful, then it is as good as you have done it. Ex, if you think about killing you have sinned. Therefor, masturbation and watching porn would be sinful. Also, one of the commandments say you should not cover another's wife/husband/blah. You could interpret watching porn as coveting I guess.
Personally, as a Christian, I'm not sure if it's sinful or not, iow I have not come across a verse that says "Watching someone else getting it on is bad mojo, dude."
Not that it ever occurred to me to question it.. how very interesting.. o.O

IMO, the question you should be asking is does it matter. I mean there are so many things that are considered sins anyways the odds of me going to heaven is nil so who cares if I sin. Let's just put it this way... if the reason I go to hell is because I have watched porn, I will be extremely proud of the way I've lived my life.

Merriam-Webster says:
Main Entry: por·nog·ra·phy
Pronunciation: -fE
Function: noun
Etymology: Greek pornographos, adjective, writing about prostitutes, from pornE prostitute + graphein to write; akin to Greek pernanai to sell, poros journey -- more at FARE, CARVE
1 : the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement
2 : material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement
3 : the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction <the pornography of violence>
- por·no·graph·ic /"por-n&-'gra-fik/ adjective
- por·no·graph·i·cal·ly /-fi-k(&-)lE/ adverb
Wikipedia says:
The term then came to mean writing about anything sexual, especially in a base manner, when the creation, presentation, or consumption of the material was for sexual stimulation. The term now refers to sexually related material of all kinds, both written and graphical. The term "pornography" often has negative connotations of low artistic merit, as compared to the more esteemed erotica. Euphemisms such as adult film, adult video and adult bookstore are generally preferred within the industry producing these works (namely the Adult industry). Pornography can also be contrasted with ribaldry, which uses sexual titillation in the service of comedy. Having said that, the definition of pornography is highly subjective, with generally accepted works of art such as Michelangelo's David being considered pornographic by some people.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pornography
If you believe it's a sin... Then by these definitions there are a lot of "sinful" Grammas out there watching "As the General Hospital's Guiding Light of the Days of our Lives Turns" right after a Steamy installment of "All My Young and Restless Children Have One Bold and Beautiful Life to Live in Another World"

mmmkay... so all it is, is a ball full of colored water, with, what, a 12-sided die? so... the water will be miraculously-changed-to-wine-red, of course, and the ball will be crucifix-brown (these are not official crayola colors only because crayola is owned by fascist agnostics), with the words "is it a sin, lord?" instead of the number 8. so, our 12 sides will say:
1. not likely
2. you hath sinned!
3. jesus loves you
4. too much fun not to be a sin
5. too boring to be a sin
6. please tell me you didn't already do that
7. you're going to hell
8. you're going to hell soon
9. you're going to hell now
10. say 2 our fathers and never mention it again
11. the savior will be back in ten minutes
12. whatchoo talkin bout, sinner?
note that the responses are statistically properly distributed... most of them indicate sin, a few indicate confusion, and only two say it's cool, dude.

porn didn't exist when the rules (i presume you are interested in the christian rules) got written. so it's all interpretation.Yes, it did:
"yet she went further in her harlotry. When she saw (the images of) men drawn on the wall…she lusted for them; no sooner had she set eyes on them than she sent messengers to them…and then the Babylonians came to her, to her love couch, and defiled her with their intercourse. As soon as she was defiled by them, she became disgusted with them." - Ezekiel 23:14-17
Now, I'm going to assume the original poster actually wanted the consideration of an honest answer, so here it is.
The Bible speaks a lot about avoiding sexual immorality, or even the appearance thereof.
Sex was created by God, and is good and sacred, and meant to be shared between a husband and wife. The world, as with all that comes from God, tries to strip it of it's sacredness and honor: "For all that is in the world, sensual lust, enticement for the eyes, and a pretentious life, is not from the Father but is from the world." - 1 John 2:16
Then why did God make women so fine? Hey, He's awesome, how could He do anything but? Admiring beauty is fine, but it is different than lust: "Lust not in your heart after her beauty, let her not captivate you with her glance! For the price of a loose woman…is a trap for your precious life. Can a man take fire into his chest, and his garments not be burned?" - Proverbs 6:25-27
Those who are in Christ have strength in Him to live right: "I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh…now those who belong to Christ have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires." - Galatians 5:16, 24
God wants us pure, in that way He can do more through us: "If anyone cleanses himself of these things, he will be a vessel for lofty use, dedicated, beneficial to the master of the house, ready for every good work. So turn from youthful desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord with purity of heart." - 2 Timothy 2:22
I mean there are so many things that are considered sins anyways the odds of me going to heaven is nil so who cares if I sin. Let's just put it this way... if the reason I go to hell is because I have watched porn, I will be extremely proud of the way I've lived my life.No one goes to hell because they watched porn. No one goes to heaven because they never watched porn.
"All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." - Romans 3:23
That means everyone. You, me, everyone.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 6:23
We all deserve death (hell), but God gives us the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. How?
"This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe." - Romans 3:22
Even in our sin, we can be made righteous (sinless in God's sight) by believing in Jesus.
Again, no amount of sin can make you go to hell, likewise, no amount of goodness can get you into heaven. It all depends on your acceptance or rejection of Jesus Christ.

Partner? The only way you can be a partner is if you do all the work and I get to take all the credit. I'll be like a modern-day Steve Jobs.
A few corrections:
2. thou hath sinned!
3. jesus loves you anyway
10. REPENT! (formerly: say 2 our fathers and never mention it again) We can't chop our market in half by making the ball Catholic! However, we can do this:
11. Is the Pope Catholic? (formerly: the savior will be back in ten minutes) Come on, the Lord would never leave you hanging like that
12. Sorry, God was unable to hear that request, because an athlete was praying that his team win a game which means nothing in the grand scheme of things. (formerly: whatchoo talkin bout, sinner?)
we are going to cause RIOTS at urban outfitters when we create a huge net buzz and then underproduce for the first few months. and the picket signs! ooooohhhh, the lovely, news-worthy picketing.... :kaching:
Ok, get to work on that. Remember, 80/15/5 split (80 for me, 15 for you, and the last 5 goes into a "slush fund", which we will use for various activities....most of which are sins).

so here's one for you... lust and coveting and all that is a sin. but that doesn't mean that pornography is always a sin. what if you have a nasty propensity for recurrent priaprism (which is fatal) and are engaged to a wonderful girl (and you're both virgins, of course.) so you watch porn and think about boinking the beans out of your future wife in order to stay alive and have babies for jesus.
sin? i think not. no lusting occured. so lets not condemn pronography... :P

Since I'm a programmer, lets look at the logic here...
Lust = Sin
Adultery = Sin
Case #1:
Porn = Lusting after someone to commit adultery with
Porn = 2 * Sin
Case #2:
Porn = Something to watch while eating fried chicken
Porn <> Sin
