yes, there have been a lot of mosquitos by my house lately, and i hate them!!!
they bite me.
and while i had my patio door opened, which i totally forgot to close, i have 3 in my room right now, and paitiently waiting for them to come down from the high ceilings so that i can swat them with my vogue magazines.
wait...actually, im gonna need to read that later, so i'll kill them with my Bloomingdales catalog.

yikes. that sounds pretty hardcore, kimchi.

i've noticed a sudden influx in moths outside as well and i'm not a big fan of insects.

If you spend a little time clearing up things that hold stagnant water, it will help.
We had lots of mosquitos for a couple of weeks. I found an outdoor fire pit and an old roomates big plastic container with like quatrillions of the little bastirds. I emptied both and there are hardly any now. Stupid old roomate leaving his @#$@....
Oops, that's another story.

Hope it helps.

It has been scientifically shown that mosquitos prefer bodies with bodily odors.
So if you like mosquitos, continue to not take showers.

the house we are buying has a slow running creek through it, and consequently tons of mosquitos. we're gong to get on the the propane powered mosquito traps i think.

I was borned and raised in VN for 15 years so I know exactly what you were talking about. I also visited Louisiana, Florida, Minnesota, and Iowa in the summer so I know about mosquitos.

mosquitoes have always liked me. i remember waking up once when i was young with 43 bites (i counted all the ones i could find), including three bites either on or around my eyelid area, virtually swelling my eyes shut.

when i lived in korea, during the summer months, my family would go through heaps of those mosquito repellant coils because we had to burn one or two of them in my room every night.

oh, and i don't remember being a particularly stinky kid either, but then what do i know?

eat lots of garlic.

also, there are two bug repellants that have no DEET and work really well... one is skin-so-soft by avon (it has citronella, same as candles, and smells good) and another is called repel - it has lemongrass and eucalyptus and also smells good.

and yeah, get rid of standing water, replace screens, and for god's sake, yo mamma didn't raise you in no barn so SHUT THA DAYUMN DOOR! ;)

*sigh* my two-year-olds have figured out how to open all baby gates and the patio door, so have been helping themselves to the outdoors... spazmonkey always shuts the door (okay, slams as hard as he can, because apparently that's real funny, but hey, at least he shuts it...) but listens-for-sh1t, of course, does not. luckily, i have YET to see a mosquito this year, and they're rarely bad here in corn country, thank goodness...

Dem little critters really don't like sawing through my tough hide. I only ever seem to get bug bites on my ankles. Strange.

Well then quit being so sweet and they'll stop biting you. That way you can go back to sleeping in the nude. When mosquitos bite me, they get indigestion for the next hour then die. :P

what's wrong with DEET? the only stuff that worked for me in the humid summer days in indonesia were 100% deet stuff. worked freakin awesome (considering that the windows above the main windows didn't have any screen, letting anything and everything in). i just had to make sure that i set my plastic alarm clock before putting on the repellent cuz the first time i used it, the plastic started melting when i touched it. hahaha.

Yeah. What could possibly be wrong with covering your body with something that melts plastic?

Watch out for west nile. Scary stuff. Like jel says, cleaning up stagnant water will help. the key is to find where they are coming from. I lived in savannah for 3 months...lost of mosquitos these.

deet is freakin awesome and i used it all the time as a forester. i still use it when camping and fishing. but it is highly toxic and carcinogenic, and my kids have no freakin sense... popsicle drips down arm, arm gets licked. etc. safer stuff is good enough to keep creepy crawlies off em in backyards, parks, nearby fishing holes, etc ;)

I lived in Houston which is like home to huge ass mosquitos and every year I wondered why no one developed some sort of genetic bug killer...I don't think mosquitos do anything for the environment, and if they do, screw them. Mosquitos need to DIE!!!

if you have mosquito problems build a couple of bats houses along the back of your property. a heck of a lot easier than spraying all of the time and better for the environment.

wouldnt it be kinda hard to hit mosquitos with Louisville Sluggers? plus it'll get messy.

Yeah this is a good way to get rid of them too. I got my mother a bat house, but its not setup yet.
