SAPPHIRE Radeon 9800PRO 256MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card (http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=0-N82E16814102515) $174 shipped
SAPPHIRE Radeon 9800PRO 256MB 256-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card (http://www2.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814102290) $193 shipped
The second one specifies 256bit memory but the first one doesnt say whether its 128 or 256. Should it be assumed that its going to be 128 bit?
Im thinking about getting one of those or the 128mb 256bit version
SAPPHIRE Radeon 9800PRO 128MB 256-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card (http://www2.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814102281) $159 shipped
Is it really worth it to get the extra memory?

IMHO: No. It's not worth the extra $$ for the few extra frames per second on the few games that support 256MB NOW. Maybe later, games will support the extra 128MB of video memory. How long do you intend to use the card? If it's more than a year or so, then get the 256MB version.
As to your first question,
It appears the first card has a 400MHz memory clock (400=200x2). This is WAY underclocked below the normal 340x2 (680), which I find strange and would not buy it. My Sapphire card will OC it's memory to 720 (360x2) stable. (maybe even further-haven't tested it further since all the games run great and 720 is the fastest it *should* go due to the memory's rating)

Thanks. Im going to assume that the first one is a 128bit version since sapphire has one listed on its site (http://www.sapphiretech.com/vga/9800-256-128.asp). I think ill just go with the 128mb version for now and it looks like newegg has a refurb for 120

You can find 6600GTs for under $200. Monarch had one for $160ish.

Well, im taking the gamble on the 9800pro to see if it has a r360 core. If it does theres a good chance i can flash it to a 9800xt which would be great for $120.

No need to flash it. Just use a R3DTweak to overclock to the best speed. If you flash it to a higher speed and something happens to your gpu fan...poof.

agreed. no need to flash it. the xt really isnt much more than an oc'd pro. though physically i'm sure they each have their differences.
